And we like traditional but not overly used names. Which is probs why we’re still struggling!

It’s not to my taste. It just kind of sounds a bit limp.

There was that guy from Hear’say, wasn’t he Noel? Totally unfanciable.

But it’s certainly not offensive

Patrick for Irish (paddy Grin)

Aussiemouse · 21/05/2018 18:49

I'd say if you both love it, then go for it @jennifersarah. It's also the name of the Dr chap who won the most Victoria Crosses in the First World War. Noel Chavasse. He died from his wounds after continuing to rescue his men from No Man's Land and treat them, despite being injured himself. And of course there is Noel Coward the composer/playwright and Noel Streatfeild (female) the well known children's author of 'Ballet Shoes' etc.

We like similarly unusual, but hopefully not too unusual traditional kind of names I think. Have you thought of Gilbert, Walter, Wilfred or Alfred?

I don't like it in afraid but I do know a 6 year old Noel he's a quirky little fellow

CanIKondo · 21/05/2018 19:13

I like it. It's meant to be more common in Ireland OP because Christmas is roughly 9 months after St Patrick's day. Wink

buttercup54321 · 21/05/2018 20:06

Really don't like it and would also think it was a Christmas baby.

Baubletrouble43 · 21/05/2018 21:25

Love it. Very cool connotations x

Joeybee · 21/05/2018 22:04

I like this name. My Husband couldn't look wat Edmunds.
Only thing is that it is a seasonal name. To me it would be odd to name a baby Noel if he wasn't born around Christmas. Although is it a bit tacky to pick a seasonal name? Can't decide.

Noel is a nice alternate to Uber popular Noah though. Not much nickname potential with Noel - something to bear in mind.
I do like this name though. It should be more popular than it is!

InkSnail · 21/05/2018 22:39

Yes to Noel, the younger generation won't think of Noel Edmunds.

Buntysoven · 21/05/2018 23:13

Fielding. Swoon!

Sugarpiehoneyeye · 22/05/2018 07:52

It's a no, from me, sorry.

mintich · 22/05/2018 08:01

I know a Noel who is 30. He's a model so definitely pulls off the name

Proudmummy2MA · 22/05/2018 08:07

I'm not a fan, but mainly because it reminds me of my sister's awful ex boyfriend!

spiderlight · 22/05/2018 11:31

There's one in my son's class (named after Noel Gallagher) and it actually really suits him. I've never heard him being teased and Noel Edmunds isn't on kids' radar at all.

DonkeysDontRideBicycles · 22/05/2018 11:32

I think it's lovely. Don't know any.

DuchyDuke · 22/05/2018 11:32

Noel’s okay. Noah too.

MrsCD67 · 22/05/2018 19:22

Gallagher

Tawdrylocalbrouhaha · 22/05/2018 19:24

I like it, but I would definitely assume he was a Christmas baby.

Tawdrylocalbrouhaha · 22/05/2018 19:26

Also, it makes me think of Noel Streatfeild (born 24 Dec, hence the name).

Gdacsmum · 22/05/2018 21:07

I really like it, I don’t think of Noel edmonds I think of Noel fielding who I love!
