We love the name Theo, however our good friend has a child called Leo. We text a lot and see each other about 4 times a year. Should we steer clear of Theo as it's so similar to Leo? Should I ask my friend in advance if she'd mind us using Theo?

I don't think they're too similar, especially if you only see them a few times a year. Your Theo could end up in a class with several other Theos though.

Not too similar at all

MarthasGinYard · 20/05/2018 16:21

No I think it's fine Op

That's definitely fine for a friend, and for the kind of relationship your describe. And I'm normally the one saying "too similar" on these treads.

bridgetreilly · 20/05/2018 17:40

Theo and Leo are completely different names. You are way overthinking this.

buttercup54321 · 20/05/2018 19:01

No I think it's fine.

BelieveAnything · 20/05/2018 21:25

Not a problem at all

InkSnail · 20/05/2018 21:57

It's fine.

Murane · 20/05/2018 22:05

Not similar at all. You only see them once every three months so it doesn't really matter anyway.

Zoflorabore · 20/05/2018 22:06

Not a problem at all op.

My mum has 2 sisters who both called their sons the same name, about 10 years apart. Very odd thing to do and it's not even a nice name

sunsetandcocktails · 21/05/2018 08:25

Great! This is super helpful, thank you. I'm clearly worrying unnecessarily Smile

Sisters using the same name...? How weird. I wouldn’t know whether to be flattered or irritated, even with a long gap between them
