Just that! Quite like Laurie but not Lawrence. So fed up of trying to find a boys name!

Does it need to be short for anything?

It doesn’t immediately strike me as a shortened name.

I’d use it as a stand-alone name.

My last DC was going to be Laurien but she was a girl.

I’m not about to have any more babies just so I can use the name- but I’m a bit sad it never got used.

GinasGirl · 13/05/2018 11:47

The Laurie I know has it as a stand alone name.

MinisWin · 13/05/2018 11:49

Definitely can be used as a stand alone name. Know a couple (Scotland).

thetriangleisarealinstrument · 13/05/2018 11:49

Florian?
Loudon?

Think its okay as a name in itself however

mondler · 13/05/2018 11:50

I think it works as a stand alone.

NaughtToThreeSadOnions · 13/05/2018 11:53

This going to be unpopular as it's a surname As a first name

Lawson?

AyeWhySwim · 13/05/2018 12:19

(I quite like surname names! Blush)

Lorenzo

My boys both have shortened versions of longer names, as their actual name. Call your ds Laurie if you like it!

Abouttoblow · 13/05/2018 12:47

Why can't you just call him Laurie?

doodlejump1980 · 13/05/2018 12:49

It’s Lawrie in Scotland for a boy and Lori for a girl. Two friends, each had a baby within a week of each other and those were their names.

AyeWhySwim · 13/05/2018 12:53

I guess we could! It’s on the shortlist now. Need to get serious with actually choosing something! So hard though Smile

Lawrence.. But I agree it doesn't need to be shortened! My friend recently named her son Laurie and he suits it so much!

MammieBear · 13/05/2018 15:47

Laurent...

sonnyboo · 13/05/2018 17:25

I only know girls called Laurie!

kirinm · 13/05/2018 17:36

I have the same name but spelt differently and it's not short for anything.

CloudCaptain · 13/05/2018 17:38

Laurel

ZenNudist · 13/05/2018 17:40

Its a name on its own. Can be male or female. I know female one.

TatianaLarina · 13/05/2018 19:08

Much prefer Laurence to Laurie - but the latter is fine as a nn.

RexManning · 13/05/2018 19:58

How about the spelling Laurence?

Sophronia · 13/05/2018 21:47

Loren
