Love the name Aria! It's so beautiful. Not a fan of hyphenated names though. How about simply using Lily as her middle name? Aria Lily does sound lovely Smile

bridgetreilly · 08/05/2018 17:31

Lily is a perfectly good middle name. First name Aria. Sorted.

Cosmoa · 08/05/2018 17:45

Good luck selling a hyphenated name to this lot!

I however this it's lovely and would avoid getting a wide spread opinion if you love it so much!

chezmk1988 · 08/05/2018 19:26

Don't like hyphenated names but quite like Aria with Lily as a middle name

pilates · 08/05/2018 19:42

Without the hyphen perfectly fine

Awwlookatmybabyspider · 08/05/2018 19:51

Aria-Lily Grace
Aria-Lily Rose
Aria-Lily Paige
Aria-Lily Maude

DramaAlpaca · 08/05/2018 20:13

Drop the unnecessary hyphen & call her Aria Lily. Job done.

Dinosaursdontgrowontrees · 08/05/2018 20:17

Everyone on here will tell you the hyphen is awful and to call her Aria Lily but if you love it with the hyphen then you should go for it.
I think Aria and Lily are both beautiful names.

ElizaDontlittle · 08/05/2018 20:20

Aria is lovely. I don't like hyphens but if you love it then go for it. Is there a family name you'd want to use? Otherwise I think a single syllable name sounds good such as Rose, Niamh, Grace, Kate, Eve.

Donna1990 · 08/05/2018 21:07

My other half isnt too keen on the double name... but i feel like aria is missing smething... so felt aria-lily sounded nicer. We was thinking marie as a middle name, as thats mine. So Aria-Lily Marie?! Xx

OP posts:
Cosmoa · 08/05/2018 21:31

Yes OP Aria-Lily Marie is a lovely name. If you love it, go for it!

Mrsknackered · 08/05/2018 22:51

Not a fan of hyphenated, but I do think both names are beautiful.

LittleTipple · 09/05/2018 15:13

I think Aria is lovely and doesn't need the hyphen. Aria Marie is very pretty. Think about the long term. Having to call out Aria-Lily all the time could get a bit annoying and you'll prob end up shortening to Aria anyway. I also think about the future, having to write her name at school, buying her personalised gifts etc. So much easier with a simpler name!

LittleTipple · 09/05/2018 15:21

Sorry, posted too soon! Also wanted say, despite my thoughts, go with what you love. We chose a name that our parents weren't keen on, but now they say they can't imagine any other name for our DC2. x

userabcname · 09/05/2018 15:44

Aria is gorgeous and if you like hyphenated names then go for it! Aria-Lily Marie flows really nicely.

TroubledLichen · 09/05/2018 15:54

Lovely names but loads better without the hyphen which is really naff. Surely you can’t even consider using it if your OH doesn’t like it though?

Oh and I had a hyphenated name, no one calls me by anything other than the first name and I’ve changed it to remove the hyphen entirely.

BewareOfDragons · 09/05/2018 16:03

Please don't hyphenate a first name.

Please.

Just don't.

Aria is lovely for a ffirst name

Lily would make a lovely middle name.

LoveInTokyo · 09/05/2018 16:10

Aria is lovely on its own and Lily is lovely on its own. The hyphen spoils them both.

And it’s a bit of a mouthful...doesn’t exactly flow off the tongue easily, does it?

popcorneveryminute · 09/05/2018 16:28

If you think Aria is missing something, what about Ariana, with Lily as the middle name?

DramaAlpaca · 09/05/2018 17:21

How about putting the hyphen in the middle - Aria Lily-Marie.

daisypond · 09/05/2018 18:44

Aria-Lily is a mouthful. It has five syllables, which is really long for a name. I agree with the everyone else - no hyphen. Aria is fine on its own with Lily as middle name, or Lily Marie as two middle names.

manicinsomniac · 09/05/2018 19:11

I don't really understand why everyone on mn hates hyphens but I agree that you don't need a middle name as well.

I have a double barelled first name but I see the second bit as my middle name. I've rarely been referred to as both names.

I think Aria-Lily is lovely but probably wouldn't add anything else.

TatianaLarina · 09/05/2018 22:20

It’s uber chav that’s why.

It’s always Lily that gets hyphenated as well. Lily-Rose, Lily-May, Lily-Rae...

manicinsomniac · 09/05/2018 22:31

Tatiana - given that I followed up my question but saying that I have a double barrelled first name, do you not think it's a bit rude to say it's 'uber chav' . I don't think that's true anyway. How can a small dash between two names make those names anything in particular? It's just a fairly meaningless punctuation mark.

I don't agree that it's always Lily either.
My name's Rebecca-Jane
I went to school with Carrie-Anne, Sarah-Jane, Anne-Marie, Kerry-Anne, Sarah-Marie and Anna-Louisa
I know children called Amelia-Rose, Iris-Renee, Lily-May, Vega-Vivienne, Lili-Kitty, Rosie-Lilac, Naomi-Grace, Christiana-Rose, Lexi-Jae, Amy-Louise, Arta-Mei and probably others I'm forgetting.

Only two Lilys out of that lot. And most are only called by the first name.

LoveInTokyo · 09/05/2018 22:56

Most of those names are pretty awful though.
