Do you like the name Quinn for a girl?

Quinn Anne

A mainstream name is far less likely to have an unfortunate association noted or commentent on than a newer one (especially when it's still not fully transitioned from surname to male name, let alone female)

Quinn ifs far to masculine/surnamey for me to consider for a girl. But OP clearly has different taste in names. But even so, the difference between Quinn and Queen (especially in hurried speech) is tiny, so I would swerve names of actual queens in the middle.

Belindabauer · 03/05/2018 07:25

I don't like it but if you do go for it.

GrimSqueaker · 03/05/2018 07:44

I tried to sneak it past DH... claimed it was from the Glee character but he rumbled me trying to pay homage to the great Niall Quinn straight away!

pipilangstrumpf · 03/05/2018 08:02

Boys name imo

Chocolatecoffeeaddict · 03/05/2018 08:05

I thought it was a joke, sorry. It sounds like Queen Anne.

tinykirst · 03/05/2018 08:16

The name Quinn is lovely but I agree that with the middle name Anne it sounds too abrupt, I would choose a longer middle name to help it flow. But if the name of Anne is important to you how often do middle names get said really 😄

Also... I have never heard of the word Quim before!! Had to google it to see what it means.. so depending on your area etc I wouldn't worry about that as I've definitely never come across that word before

pipilangstrumpf · 03/05/2018 08:20

Never heard of quim either before, don't think it's an issue at all amongst kids today.

Sunshinedaze · 03/05/2018 12:20

I like Quinn for a boy but not a girl. Quinn Anne doesn’t flow and just seems wrong, sorry!

DrinkYourGreenTea · 03/05/2018 12:59

I love Quinn. Amazing name.

It’s doesnt go with Anne. You need a longer middle name.

HingleMcCringleberry · 03/05/2018 13:20

Anne goes fine with Quinn, I honestly don’t see a problem. But it’s all moot anyway as the OP has been turned off the name by the weird Mumsnet hive-mind that hears Quinn and thinks quim.

chezmk1988 · 03/05/2018 14:11

Both names fine but not together

GrannyHaddock · 03/05/2018 15:06

Quim is very old-fashioned and not a term widely used now. At least it is not used as an insult. You would need to be brave to call a son Cnut nowadays, though it may be popular in Norway.

spamm · 03/05/2018 15:21

I know a Quinn - she is my son's best friend, and she is awesome. I love her name and it suits her totally. Quite a few Quinns around, if you look for them here. Just for clarity - I am in the US, and it is definitely a girl's name.

Kokeshi123 · 03/05/2018 15:37

"Quim."

Don't like it, sorry.

And Quinn Anne---I am sorry, are you serious? This is really really weird sounding (strange rhythm AND it sounds like Queen Anne, who is already a well known historical figures and will become even better known from the end of this year when "The Favourite" comes out).

GreatDuckCookery6211 · 04/05/2018 12:44

Terrible for a girl. Not keen for a boy tbh but it's passable.

sonnyboo · 04/05/2018 12:50

Agree, too masculine for a girl. Finn, Flynn and Quinn sound strong and manly to my ears.

(never heard of quim...)

Itsear · 04/05/2018 18:29

Agree that ‘quim’ is a problem. Okay, it is not in current common usage but these type of words come back in every so often. Anne or a variant (Annabelle, Anna, Anya, Annika) is by far a better name.

AlyTab · 04/05/2018 18:52

I like Quinn for a girl. I'm a big fan of unisex names in general for girls, no idea why.

Quinn is a lovely name :)

Mayhemmumma · 04/05/2018 18:54

Quinn for a boy def a yes.

For a girl it could be cool.

But Quinn Anne? People will mock you. Sorry.
