What do you think of Luna Mia? Translates to 'my moon' (I think!)

Personally no to Luna. Mia is fine but together it's quite pretentious, trying too hard to sound like Italian but failing to be genuine Italian. Even if you are half/quarter etc Italian, it still doesn't sound well together.
Unless you have roots in another nationality, it's never pretty to name your child in another language.

LinoleumBlownapart · 30/04/2018 14:31

Not together.

RavenWings · 30/04/2018 16:14

Luna and Mia are pretty generic names these days, nothing unusual about them. Together it's just a bit clunky.

I get the astral connection but I really personally can’t bear “Luna” as a name.

For me it just brings up “lunatic” and images of Victorian Bedlam etc.

For something a bit “out there” perhaps Lorelai?

Tumbleted · 30/04/2018 20:22

Sounds a bit like Lumineer so reminds me of the band sorry

Marcipex · 30/04/2018 20:39

Sorry, Luna is too close to lunatic. Actually, much much too close.

How about Lyra, Linnea, Linnet?

Ellenripleysalienbaby · 30/04/2018 20:44

Maybe not Luna Mia - as well as everything people have said on here, I don't know, 'my moon' just reminds me of pulling a moonie! Like, 'my bum'.

Luna Marie is nice.

WinnieThePooh6 · 30/04/2018 22:26

I like both but not together. The two 'a' endings don't flow well.

o0o0 · 30/04/2018 22:33

It definitely sounds like a handheld device. Either a sex toy or a breast pump or something....

FizzyGreenWater · 01/05/2018 09:54

The translation is so obviously deliberate that it comes across as really tacky, although individually both are very nice names. So no I don't think it works.

bridgetreilly · 01/05/2018 10:13

Lunamia sounds like a brand of menstrual cup, sorry.

TatianaLarina · 01/05/2018 13:56

Or hair removal as per Philips Lumea.

Also lune de miel is French for honeymoon.
