I know Lily is very popular in comparison but do like both a lot so need help deciding!

Love them both! You really can't go wrong with either, but I slightly prefer Lily.
Lily Violet sounds gorgeous too, so you could always use Violet as a mn if you really love it. Wouldn't do the other way round though (Violet Lily), as it sounds a bit too similar to 'violently'.

Lily is nicer. Potential issues with Violet:

Looks like violent
No obvious nickname
A lifetime of purple presents from friends and family (unless you 💜 purple)

Violet. Its beautiful- so sweet (but not twee) on a girl and graceful but different name on a woman.

Both not the same in popularity at all Cosmoa either: Lily was 4th while Violet 69th last year....

It's becoming very popular though. I know of a lot more Violets than Lily's lately. Mainly because Lily is so popular.

This is what happens when people try to go for more uncommon names... They make them common.
