DD who is Beatrice. Top contenders are Emily and Sophie. Do they go well or are they too popular to go with DD's name which is way down the list in popularity.

I prefer Sophie. All Emily's I know are a but whiney (sorry!)

I don't think the level of popularity really matters. If your first was say, Amaryllis, then Emily and Sophie would seem plain in comparison but I would say that Beatrice, Emily and Sophie are of a similar ilk.

Awwlookatmybabyspider · 20/04/2018 13:47

I wouldn't put either of those names with Beatrice. I think another long name would be more fitting.
Beatrice and
Florence
Amelia.
Helena.
Matilda
Harriet
Violet
Abigail
Penelope
Jennifer
Claudia
Dorothy
Alexandra
Georgina
Madeleine
Samantha
Rosanne
Catherine
Kathleen
Vivienne

There are so many Emilys and Sophies round here that I just couldn't use either name, which is a shame as they are both timeless and beautiful names.

With Beatrice, I think Sophie has the edge though.

Aprilmightbemynewname · 20/04/2018 13:50

Agree Florence..

MikeUniformMike · 20/04/2018 13:52

Of the two, Sophie.

TatianaLarina · 20/04/2018 14:00

I’d go for something a bit less common, as Beatrice is.

Imogen (fellow Shakespearean character) Violet/Viola, Aurora, Aurelia, Romilly. I’d suggest Ophelia but I don’t really like it.

SabineUndine · 20/04/2018 14:03

Cecily.

Awwlookatmybabyspider · 20/04/2018 14:04

Cecelia.
Suzannah
Evelyn.

TatianaLarina · 20/04/2018 14:06

Yes Cecily, Cicely or Cecilia would go very well - similarly Edwardian.

HerculesM · 20/04/2018 14:08

Sophie

daisypond · 20/04/2018 14:15

I like Sophie more than Emily, and I think it goes better. Otherwise, I like Cecily/Cecilia, as has been suggested - or if you'd like another Dante name, Francesca or Frances. I also think Mary goes well - very classic.

TatianaLarina · 20/04/2018 14:17

What about Sophia pronounced So fire - the old English way?

Otherwise she will be Sophie P or Emily F as there are so many of them.

RoundaboutSnail · 20/04/2018 14:46

I think they do go well, actually... they're all quite traditional sounding.

Sophia or Emilia would be nice too.

AnyaMoondial · 20/04/2018 16:11

Oooo Cecily as someone suggested would be fab.

How about Agatha? I really love that name. Or Mabel would be really cute.

bridgetreilly · 20/04/2018 21:54

Eugenie.

Lifeaback · 20/04/2018 23:09

I don't think they go with Beatrice very well, Sophia or Emilia would go better or something more keeping with the classic theme like Beatrice (e.g: Florence/ Francesca/charlotte/Edith/Harriet)

That being said, your two daughters will be two different people so do their names need to go together? If you really like the names Emily or Sophie then pick them I say

chezmk1988 · 20/04/2018 23:11

I like both names but Beatrice and Sophie best x

gwen25 · 21/04/2018 12:31

Beatrice and Florence go perfectly together.

DanceDisaster · 21/04/2018 13:17

Beatrice and Florence sound very natural together.

Also maybe Francesca.

Smoliver · 21/04/2018 20:08

Of the two you said, I prefer Sophie. Although, Beatrice and Emily have a timeless/classic literature feel to it.

Other suggestions you might like:
Cecily
Chloe
Lucy
Ivy
Julie/Julia
Amelia/Amelie
Audrey
Ruby
Eloise
Josephine

trueblueari · 21/04/2018 20:20

My daughter has two Sophies and three Emily's (one is spelled Emileigh but she still turns when the Emily's are called) in her nursery class so I'd say too popular.
I love the suggestions of Romily and Cecily!
Henrietta and Valerie are lovely vintage names too.

DownInTheDumps1 · 21/04/2018 23:47

Isobel
Harriet
Esme

GreatDuckCookery6211 · 22/04/2018 15:51

Definitely Florence.

Alice
Eleanor
Harriet
Clementine
Jemima

BringMeCoffeePlease · 22/04/2018 16:53

Hate Emily and Sophie. They’re so boring and outdated in comparison to the classic timelessness of Beatrice.

What about:
Elizabeth
Eliza
Sophia
Thea
Rose
Katrina
Georgia
Francesca
