...you literally can not find a name to even consider??

We had the perfect girls name but we are having a boy. Absolutely thrilled but...he is nameless. He is due soon and we have spent hours/days/months trawling for a name and just none of them feel right for our little boy. Has anyone been in this situation? It’s making me really sad. Shall we just pick a random name and hope it becomes him? We knew our daughters name before we even conceived her and I love names-guess I’m just waiting for the perfect name but maybe it doesn’t exist? Just hoping there is someone who has been in a similar situation to me. Thanks for listening to my hormonal rant.

Magnus is standing out to suggest.
Just keep looking. Read the credits of everything. Read old name records.

OP I don't have any suggestions just sympathy. Our second DC is due in less than two weeks, our girls' name is sorted but if it's a boy... Not a clue. I've suggested hundreds of lovely names to DH and he has rejected them all Hmm to the extent it is really stressing me out. He has suggested none. I'm not saying we have to have chosen it before baby comes but fgs we don't even have any type of shortlist (or even a long list) to consider!

Good luck finding a name - hopefully it just strikes you and feels right when the time comes! And congratulations on your little boy Flowers

Following on from the suggestion of old name records, how about a cemetery or churchyard? We have a cemetery near us and it's very peaceful for a walk around and I spent a bit of time there on maternity leave walking the baby to sleep, may be some inspiration within Smile

What about Edward or Edmund? Or Edris/Idris? Then you get Eddie (almost Edie) or Ted, Teddy, Ned etc. Classic name.

If you want something a bit more unusual, along the Edie lines, how about Wulfric? - Wolfie/Wolf for short. It's another Anglo Saxon name like Edith. I love them. Love Alfred, Wilfred etc.

MinaPaws · 14/04/2018 10:07

I love Edris/Idris.Classic but unusual. Cute on a baby and young child, cool on a teen and elegant on an adult.

MollyDaydream · 14/04/2018 10:10

Go for something underused. Trevor, Martin, Basil.

BergamotMouse · 14/04/2018 10:29

I like Edie and my favourite boys name is Rupert. Would that work?

GreenTulips · 14/04/2018 10:38

Anyone hitting the mark OP?

Somerville · 14/04/2018 10:41

Since you've read through a lot of names, I'd wait now until you meet him. One of them might well jump out at you as suiting him. If not, you've got 6 weeks to try some out and see what sticks.

Sorry everyone been at a wedding this weekend so haven’t checked in. Some great suggestions and some great advice...going to look at some old records and the churchyard idea. Failing that we may just have to wait until we see his face and see what sticks. Glad to know we aren’t the only ones who have gone through this annoying struggle.

I haven’t been in your situation personally but my best friend was. They eventually wrote a list each of names they liked, even if they didn’t love them, and there were 3 or 4 on both lists, so they waited to see which suited best after he was born. He has a lovely name now that he really suits.

Ideas for you:

Alban

Robin
Rupert
Sylvan
Hector
Otto
Lucian
Vincent
Willem
Ivor/Ivo

Felix
Jasper
Finbar
Edmund
