our surname also ends in "o" but I've tried it written, and said it out loud and it doesn't look/sound too bad to me. Thoughts welcome (but pls keep it kind) :)

Totally stuck for names otherwise.

No family or friends to ask, hence the post x

It’s the most common boys nane in my DS’s nursery at the moment. But it’s a lovely name

What a silly thing to say Sunshinebeach

FrancisUnderwood · 05/04/2018 10:21

Dislike it passionately. Especially it's religious connotations.

Don’t mean to derail but would you HAVE to have the full name Theodore to get Nn Ted?

Could you call child Theo and Nn Ted? Or do you need the full name?

In your opinion obviously... Grin

allchangenochange · 05/04/2018 17:47

It's the Teddy part that gets shortened to Ted. But there is nothing to stop you from calling a dc any nickname you want. Ours answers to the name bear amongst other things purely as a nickname.
Edward would also get you to Ted.

Yogagirl123 · 05/04/2018 17:53

Love it!

pipilangstrumpf · 05/04/2018 17:53

I can't see how Theo shortens to Ted Confused

DanceDisaster · 05/04/2018 18:08

Theodore shortens to Ted, I don’t think Theo does.

GinIsIn · 06/04/2018 09:18

Theodore shortens to Ted/Teddy but not Theo - I think you’d need the letter d in the name to get there.

Oh, and sunshinebeach, I think you might need a lie down, dear... Hmm

pipilangstrumpf · 06/04/2018 10:21

Thaddeus or Theodore might shorten to Teddy, but not Theo.

Also, why would you want to shorten a nickname (Theo) even further Confused

Greenyogagirl · 06/04/2018 11:21

@sunshinebeach my Theo is autistic and my friends Theo is too, how strange!

user1473582906 · 06/04/2018 11:27

We called our son Theodore too but call him theo....so we love it. Just a girls name for second due in May now struggling and can't agree on anything!

user1472377586 · 06/04/2018 11:31

I love the name Theo.

If we had a third son, he would either be Theo or Freddy.
Roald Dahl's son is Theo.

Buglife · 06/04/2018 11:42

Theodore Roosevelt was known as Teddy Roosevelt. We are likely to call DS2 Theodore and shorten to Teddy or Theo. I’d expect him to be Theo at school etc but I might call him Teddy. It gives a lot of choice. It does seem to be getting popular though.

ginandbearit · 06/04/2018 18:02

A friend has named her son Theon ..says its nothing to do with Game of Thrones but she and partner watched it a lot. ...stand by for a few more to turn up in nursery !

Panicmode1 · 06/04/2018 18:09

I have a teenaged one (Theodore). When we named him, everyone said how unusual it was and how lovely. Then Theo Walcott started playing for Arsenal and seem to be flipping hundreds of them.

Still love it as a name though!
