I was just wondering how most people decided in names me and my wife have about 5 names for girls and maybe 1 Jackson for a boy and I keep scrolling through lists and nothing seems right. Did some of you just know when you saw baby. By the way we are waiting for bed in delivery suite now so not much time left lol

We just spent months tossing suggestions back and forth until we stumbled on one that felt right for both of us.

Mark29 · 24/03/2018 18:21

I'm hoping we will think of one soon that we both like girls names are so easy by comparrison

We never agreed on a boy’s name... had plenty of girls names on our list and a handful of meh compromise names for a boy that neither of us loved but we didn’t hate either. Fortunately we found out we were having a girl so that was that! Sorry not helpful at all Grin

MissYeti · 24/03/2018 18:32

We had settled on a girls name but couldn't decide a boys name for the life of us. It took a lot of tossing names around to eventually get a shortlist. We have a name now but DP refuses to say that is his name until he's seen him so its still up in the air with 4 weeks to go :)
You might be one of those that takes one look and decides (whatever name) is the only name that would suit him

Awwlookatmybabyspider · 24/03/2018 18:32

I think you'll no when you meet him.
Congratulations.

bridgetreilly · 24/03/2018 18:48

You've still got plenty of time, OP. You don't have to register the baby immediately. Take a while until the right name settles.

stellarfox · 24/03/2018 19:00

As above, no rush to register. Try a few names out when he arrives :)

Mark29 · 24/03/2018 19:13

Yeah hopefully we will know if it is a boy and we see him but I'm hoping for a girl anyway haha. I know there's no rush but hate the idea of going home without a name.

I wanted a boy when I was having DD. However the split second they're placed my gorgeous healthy baby girl in my arms. All that I want a boy just went out of the window.

WaxOnFeckOff · 24/03/2018 19:51

DS1, we had a few names before he was born but nothing definite and we didn't like any of the ones we had when he was born. We ended up flicking through a newspaper in hospital and it was the graduation lists so we found a couple from that and just picked one.

We though with baby No2 that it was a waste of time thinking about it in advance as we hadn't used the names we'd thought of firts time round. He ended up not having a name for a week and a half. the final choice was done by us both thinking of some names, putting them on one list and passing it back and forth striking a name off the list each time. We ended up with 2 names that were pretty similar so we compromised (used mine!).

WaxOnFeckOff · 24/03/2018 19:52

best of luck for the birth :)

Pebbleinthesand · 24/03/2018 19:59

Wow good luck! Never had to use our boys name as we had a girl but the only boys name we really loved was George. Xx

Mark29 · 24/03/2018 20:16

Thanks for the advice and wishes. I did but a paper earlier might flick through lol. I know I said in hoping for a girl but honestly don't mind I just want it and mum to be healthy

DC1

DH picked a girl name and I picked a boy name, ages in advance. We had a girl, so she has the name DH picked.

DC2

We had a few names in mind, whittled it down to two when we got to hospital for ELCS and decided on one in theatre, (the doctors and nurses helped us choose Grin).

Good luck Flowers!

I think most people Wether theye admit it or not have a preference, Mark.
It's only human nature.

Sugarpiehoneyeye · 24/03/2018 21:43

Mark, have you and your wife been on the 'named together' site ?
It might help.😄

Mark29 · 24/03/2018 22:42

Same as Troubled, maybe it's a sign

elQuintoConyo · 24/03/2018 22:50

We had one definite girl's name and around 6 or 7 boys' names when i was pregnant.

We got it down to 2 names by the time he was born and when he arrived one stuck better.

Congratulations Flowers
