We are expecting a baby boy in June. I love the name Matthew with either James or George as a middle name. Recently I seen a thread on here with names teachers dread . What do you think when you hear the name Matthew ?

Love Matthew, really love it shortened to Matt too.

I have a Matthew who is 6, he also has one of the middle names you have suggested too. He's Matthew at the moment though I accept he will probably become Matt to his friends as he grows up.

No other Matthews at nursery or so far in school but a couple in some of his sports groups. I'm a child of the 80's and knew a fair few Matthews growing up.

I have one so I’m in favour. Mine is 16 now. He’s Matt to his friends and at school. We haven’t come across many. I have to say he doesn’t like it though!

Great name

I think it's a lovely name.

Matthew is great.
"Recently I seen" is not great.

it's a really nice name. Can't remember the last Matthew I met to be honest so not that popular. I like Matthew James

I married a Matthew and he’s a lovely chap! It’s a good, solid, dependable name

I like it, but then I would - it's my ds's name Grin. He's 16, and the only child Matthew that I know. Have never met another since he was born.

It's a lovely name, not too popular and not too unusual. Classic and timeless. Both middle names suit really well too. Perfect!

About 1/4 of my male classmates were Matthews growing up! Nowadays, not over-common at all, but not rare to the point that it sounds weird either. It's a great name and never sounds "dated."
