Would be Clara here - Lorelei has baaaad connotations for us Mentalist fans...

LastNightsMakeUp · 13/03/2018 18:15

Clara for me, it’s a lovely name and I think I’ve actually never met one. I know 2 toddler age Lorelei’s so for me it’s a bit more common and less elegant than Clara

MrsMarigold · 13/03/2018 18:18

Clara. Although I know a lovely Lorel.

OpalIridescence · 13/03/2018 18:22

Both nice and both on my name list.

I went with Lorelei in the end and am so glad I did.

I recommend Lorelei!

bridgetreilly · 13/03/2018 18:26

I really, really don't like Lorelai, sorry. Clara is lovely, though.

LoveInTokyo · 13/03/2018 19:25

Clara

DramaAlpaca · 13/03/2018 20:45

Clara by miles. It also goes better with Elodie.

Lorelai just sounds silly to me (sorry to anyone who has one). It doesn't sound like a real name.

SuperBeagle · 13/03/2018 21:34

Lorelei is definitely the correct spelling, but I don't like it.

Clara is lovely.

OpalIridescence · 14/03/2018 07:08

Just noticed you have an Elodie, we really do have similar tastes!

If you go with Lorelei you will get reactions, some people absolutely love it, some are meh and some are rude!
I have been told it's a godawful name, that it's the most beautiful name ever.

I have even been told off as Lorelei has too many vowels (by the mother of a Louie Confused).

Clara is lovely but,to me, a tiny bit insipid and I couldn't shake the image of a servant girl. That's the thing about names everyone has different taste and associations with a name.
To me Lorelei sounds like music, to some people it apparently sounds like a stripper!

Just choose what you like!!

iismum · 14/03/2018 07:14

Lorelei was a siren who lured sailors to their deaths. Unfortunate connotations.

OpalIridescence · 14/03/2018 09:07

Very true iismum, but I like that!

sinceyouask · 14/03/2018 09:16

Clara, one of my favourites. Not at all keen on Lorelei.

starkid · 14/03/2018 16:25

I like Clara more, and goes well with Elodie (I think Lorelei and Elodie is a bit of a mouthful!)

Redpramlady · 14/03/2018 17:06

Opallridescence

How funny! Yes I guess it's a bit marmite but I for one think it's beautiful! Great taste you have!

Ha ha! As do you Grin

CammieKennaway · 14/03/2018 17:59

I think both are beautiful although I prefer the spelling "Lorelei" - however, your baby and your choice of spelling :)

LesLavandes · 14/03/2018 17:59

What about Lorella? It is an Italian name.

Thistlebelle · 14/03/2018 18:05

Clara

lils888 · 14/03/2018 18:10

Watch Gilmore girls - it will convince you to go with Lorelai and Clara is deans lilltle sister I believe.

Great show and great names but definitely lorelai for me!

helpmum2003 · 14/03/2018 18:15

Clara is so pretty and goes well with Elodie

NinjagoNinja · 14/03/2018 18:16

I wouldn't name my child after a character in a tv show. I know there was a Clara in Dr Who but the name is more generally well-known and nobody only associates it with that.

Lorelei, for me, is ONLY the star of Gilmore Girls. I've never heard it in any other way.
