Thoughts on this name for a boy. Is it a bit feminine?

OP posts:
Are your children’s vaccines up to date?

Prefer it for a boy. I like it

Miserablemouse · 06/03/2018 15:44

It's my favourite boys name, just need to convince H!

I say go for it - also it means 'little redhead' which is adorable, especially if you have any ginger in the family!

NameChangeDestroyer · 06/03/2018 17:03

I always think its a bit masculine for a girl, much prefer it for a boy.

17caterpillars1mouse · 06/03/2018 17:05

I love it on a bit but DH doesn't

I quite like it on a girl too. Wouldn't use it myself but can appreciate it on others as a nice name for a girl / woman too

Aprilmightmemynewname · 06/03/2018 17:09

My ds is Roan.

ateacupofgin · 06/03/2018 17:12

OK so I am biased - but I love it & the friend whom DS1 is named after. Love the fact that my wee chap is not surrounded by peers who share his name (as I do!) but it is easy for folk to say/spell!

GreatDuckCookery6211 · 06/03/2018 17:38

Good name. For either girl or boy.

bridgetreilly · 06/03/2018 17:55

I love it for a girl but am less keen for a boy. Not because I think it's particularly feminine, though, just because of the people I've known with that name.

Jerem · 06/03/2018 17:56

Like it. Similar one is Ronan or Roman.

FairyFantastic · 06/03/2018 19:02

Know a 3-year-old Rowan, a 2-year-old with the middle name Rowan and a baby called Rowan. All boys.
I really like it, as either a boys or girls name tbh. I do find it masculine though.
Also makes me think of Rowan Atkinson (Mr Bean, Blackadder etc.)

MikeUniformMike · 06/03/2018 20:40

Atkinson
Williams
Pelling.

albazavi · 06/03/2018 22:23

I love it- we have it picked for DS2 and much prefer it for a boy. Like that it's strong and recognisable but not overly popular. I think it will rise in the next year or so though... it is much more populate in certain regions (Wales/ SW) according to this website:

feral · 06/03/2018 22:25

Love it but prefer Roan. Smile

RLOU88 · 06/03/2018 22:27

Love it-I was going to use it for my son when he is born but me and DH couldn’t agree spellings, he wanted Rohan and I wanted Roan :(

DiegoMadonna · 06/03/2018 22:48

I like it for a boy. Not for a girl.

Buntysoven · 06/03/2018 23:35

Lovely boys name. Not keen on it for a girl

ColinsVeryJolly · 07/03/2018 01:13

It was on our list for DS1 had he been a girl. I don't like it for a boy for some reason.

When he started school there was a red haired boy called Rowan in his class so I'm glad we didn't have a girl, she'd have spent her school years being called girl Rowan Grin

lizzlebizzle33 · 07/03/2018 01:28

Great name! I wanted it for Ds but FIL is called Roman 😩 so it would have been too similar.

Joeybee · 07/03/2018 02:26

It's not a name I'd pick. However I think Rowan is a nice name. I wouldn't have thought it was too feminine. Infact when I imagine a Rowan, I imagine an outdoorsy kind of boy who loves nature and climbing trees and stuff. It surprises me that Rowan isn't more popular tbh.

MaMisled · 07/03/2018 02:47

I have a DS called Rowan now age 17. Lovely name, lovely boy.

AnyaMoondial · 07/03/2018 02:58

Fab name for a boy.

MunsteadWood · 07/03/2018 19:20

I love it - was on my shortlist for DS. Also love the name Rohan.

MadAssHatter · 07/03/2018 19:24

Love it for a boy but I'm bias

Marcipex · 07/03/2018 21:13

Rather girly, as it's a girls name.

Rohan is the boy's name.

Mrsknackered · 07/03/2018 21:19

I really love it.
