I like Harriet and Matilda from your list, and Rose as the middle name.

chezmk1988 · 05/03/2018 16:20

My baby girl is called Ivy Sophia, so I’m biased in loving Ivy! I also quite like Beatrice and like the nickname ‘Tilly’ for Matilda.

Beatrice Ivy

Beatrice or Florence. I don't like the others. Rose or Anne for middle names.

mischiefmanaged01 · 06/03/2018 01:16

Ahhh! Harriet, Matilda and Beatrice are my top 3 but the husband vetoed them all :( middle name wise is there a family connection you may like to use? If not I’d be looking to keep it short and sweet:

Lily
Ava
Rose
Grace

SuperBeagle · 06/03/2018 04:30

I like Matilda best. Matilda Rose.

Others I like:

  • Florence Ivy
  • Florence Anne
  • Ivy (doesn't "go" with Anne or Rose, though)

I'm not a fan of Harriet or Beatrice, and I can't warm to Delilah because it has such negative Biblical connotations which, despite being an atheist now, are pervasive when you've been subjected to a Christian education. It's a bit like Jezebel or Lilith. Dahlia is a nice alternative to Delilah.

Periclymenum · 06/03/2018 07:46

I like Ivy best but agree it doesn't go with your current mn choices so well. Florence is lovely too.

17caterpillars1mouse · 06/03/2018 11:15

Harriet - I love Harriet and wish it wasn't becoming popular it reminds me of Harriet the Spy (yes I grew up in the 90s) so I picture a fiesty, inquisitive girl. I adore Hattie as a nn too

Matilda - it's lovely but there are so so many of them in my area. Also I dislike Tilly which seems to be the default here. I quite like Mattie and like Tilda though

Delilah - lovely name but I don't like any of the nicknames

Florence - love it and keep contemplating ignoring the fact it's so popular (only other name I do this with is Phoebe). I love Florrie and Flossie too

Ivy - pretty but a bit short for my tastes

Beatrice - I like it on paper but it seems so serious on a child. Prefer Beatrix

I find Rose dull as a middle name. Have you thought about Rosalind, Rosanna, Rosalin, Rosa etc as an alternative

Iris as similar to Ivy

Annabel or Anneliese as an alternative to Anne.

If I had to choose from your choices I would 100% go with Florence Ivy
