Thoughts on the name Mia-Donna as one name? Or Mia then Donna for the middle name?

Donna is after my DH late mother who passed a few years ago ❤️

Also I want 'Me-A' and partner wants 'My-A' for 'My Donna'.

She would have been 50 this year so he's really feeling it 😢❤️

Bel Mooney's real first name is Beryl.
Mia Donna sounds like a pizza restaurant.

Snap MikeUniformMike (nice name btw)

tumblrpigeon · 04/03/2018 19:16

Sounds like a budget Italian restaurant. Don’t do it

MikeUniformMike · 04/03/2018 19:34

Thanks. I get mistaken for a man on here.
My pet, CharlieAlphaTango, was my inspiration.
I like the names Mia and Donna but not together.

Lotsofplanetshaveanorth · 04/03/2018 19:42

Love it :)

Nevica · 04/03/2018 19:55

How about Mia Bella Donna?

SuperBeagle · 04/03/2018 20:20

I'm not a fan.

If he wants "my-ah" as the pronunciation, it should be spelt Maya/Maia, which would get rid of the whole "my woman" thing anyway.

But if you're wanting Mia as in "mee-ah", perhaps giving her a longer form of the name would be better, and then you could shorten it to Mia (Amelia, Emilia, Miranda etc).

Callamia · 04/03/2018 20:20

Lotsofplanets, ha, casa bevron

KERALA1 · 04/03/2018 21:40

Both names fine but not together. But have Italians in my life who would be Hmm at Mia Donna.

Zaya71 · 04/03/2018 22:35

Its nice he wants to honour his mum but Mia Donna is taking it too far in my eyes. I would either go with the My-a pronunciation but spell it Maia/Maya. Or add another middle name eg. Mia Jayne Donna to break it up.

MikeUniformMike · 05/03/2018 19:44

Mia Farrow is really María de Lourdes Villiers Farrow.
Maria Donna known as Mia?
Maria Donna makes me think of Maradona.

Glumglowworm · 05/03/2018 19:51

Keep the Donna to honour his mum as it’s clearly important to him

But I would use a different first name

Did his mum have a favourite name that she never got to use? Or a middle name that would work?

squoosh · 05/03/2018 20:00

I think one name to honour his mum is plenty.

GlubGlubGlub · 05/03/2018 20:03

It literally means “my woman” in Italian. Why would you do that to a child?!

GlubGlubGlub · 05/03/2018 20:04

How about Donna Maeve?

GlubGlubGlub · 05/03/2018 20:05

Or Emilia Donna?

ifanciedanamechange · 05/03/2018 20:14

Sounds very similar to maradonna!

OlennasWimple · 05/03/2018 20:17

It sounds terrible together, sorry

If having Donna as her middle name is important (and I totally respect that it is), then any name other than Bella would be better than Mia

IWouldLikeToKnow · 05/03/2018 20:28

I think Mia (me ah) is lovely. Donna as a middle and is fine. How many times are you going to call her by her full title anyway. I never use my middle name. Nor does anyone I know. I don't know most of my friends' middle names.

DoneDisappeared · 05/03/2018 20:34

Don't. It's awful - I don't speak Italian and I know what it means.

Piove · 05/03/2018 20:34

Wasn't there an MN poster called Dawn Donna? Reminds me of her. Could you use Dawn as an alternative? It's very close in the way it sounds (but obviously different meaning). Somehow I think a single syllable name or name that doesn't end in -a works best if you want to use Donna.

LittleMe03 · 05/03/2018 20:51

Oh op.... because I commented on this post and so it keeps coming up on my 'I'm on' list I can't help but read the title and sing 'prima-donna girl... all I ever wanted was the world' Blush sorry

bugeyesue · 06/03/2018 19:46

Sounds like Maradonna

dancinghen · 06/03/2018 23:17

I think she will forever have people looking at her strangely when she says her full name and will have to explain to everyone why she is called 'my woman'. I don't think it'll be fair on her.

Intelinside · 06/03/2018 23:20

It's really quite terrible
