Girls names that suit at any age?

MooChops89 · 14/02/2018 18:37

Hi, due 4th May with my first, a little girl Smile
We really like the name Lucy but there's a possibility DHs estranged brother recently called his new baby Lucy (not 100% sure as nobody speaks to him)
If we can't use Lucy, does anyone have any other ideas of similar names that would suit a girl at any age?

You could use Lucinda with Lucy as a diminutive

MikeUniformMike · 14/02/2018 19:08

Just call her Lucy. It's lovely.

Heratnumber7 · 14/02/2018 19:26

What do you mean by "would suit a girl of any age"?

You are naming a baby not a 14 year old.

Are you worried she might grow out of her name? Because it doesn't work like that! Smile

Herat - "You are naming a baby not a 14 year old. "
No, the opposite. You are naming a person, not a baby! The person will be a baby for a tiny fraction of their lives. Most of the time they are going to be an adult.

That's what I mean daisy. Badly worded perhaps.
I thought the request for a name that "suits any age" was odd.
You'd never choose a name for a 14 year old, or for anything but a baby. The name sort of grows with you.
You wouldn't not choose a name on the basis it sounds more like a name for a 14 year old. You'd choose a name you like.

MooChops89 · 16/02/2018 14:17

Herat what I mean is, while "girly" baby girl names are lovely, i want her to have a name that wouldn't sound babyish when she's a teenager, or 40, or 80. So yes while I am naming a baby I'm thinking practically that she won't be a baby forever!

Loving some of these suggestions, lots of them have already been used by friends or family... choosing a name is hard!
