Is Elsie overused now?

Just that really - we're thinking of a longer name but the only shortening of it that we like is Elsie (I realise you can't always affect what shortening they end up with though). Is it very popular?

I only know one and think it’s beautiful

DextroDependant · 15/02/2018 09:30

I know of one around here age about 2 and one in her 40s avout 200 miles away.
Gorgeous name.

TenThousandSpoons · 15/02/2018 15:26

Eloisa is beautiful. Agree you’re more likely to get Ellie as a shortening but if you call her Elsie others will too.

PunkAssMoFo · 15/02/2018 17:14

I know of half a dozen 3 and under. It’s definitely becoming popular. Still sounds a little frumpy to my ears though.

MikeUniformMike · 15/02/2018 17:25

Eloisa is too much. Eloise is ok. Elise is Ok.
Elsie will be right up the charts, but it is quite nice. Elizabeth nn Elsie is what I suggest.

I didn’t know Elsie was so popular. I’ve had it in my head for ages and expecting in September. My DH’s grandma was an Elsie so it’s a nice tribute.

In the same vein I like Edie. Probably not short for Edith though.

Not heard of any here ( Liverpool )

RuskBaby · 15/02/2018 18:45

I know of 2, 14-18 months. I love it.

iatethepies · 15/02/2018 18:46

Never met any under 80 here in the northeast

Alisvolatpropiis · 15/02/2018 18:53

I’ve only met one and she’s mid 20’s.

daisypond · 15/02/2018 19:09

Eloisa seems a bit odd to me. Eloise? Louisa? I really don't like Elsie at all, though.

NaughtyNoraTheNamechanger · 15/02/2018 21:56

I don't know anyone with the name Elsie, but I know a couple of Eloise's and my name is Eleanor so similar sounding in that way.

Quite like it though.

I know of two primary-aged Elsies.

Eloisa could be Ella, Lisa, Lo, Elsa.
