Dh and I are in a battle of wills over the name of our soon to be born Valentine’s Day baby.

He likes Alexander Jacob.

I like Atticus Alexander.

I win, right? 😄

Sorry but I much prefer your dh's choice. Don't like the name Atticus at all.

Cavender · 13/02/2018 04:57

Alexander Jacob is lovely.

I’m not keen on alliterative names. Sorry!

CocoLoco87 · 13/02/2018 05:04

Alexander Jacob is lovely!

SuperBeagle · 13/02/2018 06:15

Alexander Jacob is much nicer.

I think Atticus is ridiculously try-hard, sorry.

BikeRunSki · 13/02/2018 06:20

Alexander Jacob is lovely.

I understand the literary references to Atticus, but don’t particularly like it.

crisscrosscranky · 13/02/2018 06:21

I love Alexander

Zioanna · 13/02/2018 06:34

Alexander Jacob is much better

ChocolateCrunch · 13/02/2018 06:35

I really like Atticus! Probably because I know one - his siblings have strong, Roman names too.

ThroughThickAndThin01 · 13/02/2018 06:56

Alexander Jacob

MorningstarMoon · 13/02/2018 06:58

Alexander Jacob

LyannaStarktheWolfMaid · 13/02/2018 06:58

I like Atticus.

pipilangstrumpf · 13/02/2018 07:23

Atticus Alexander is great!

Atticus is a lovely name with a great association. It's also an interesting name that isn't overused.

Alexander is a little dull, I know SO many Alexes both male and female.

AnyaMoondial · 13/02/2018 08:27

I really like Alexander Jacob too. Atticus is very cool though .

pipilangstrumpf · 13/02/2018 10:27

Don't worry about how first and middle names sound together, they rarely/never get used together

Choose between Atticus and Alexander.

Personally I find Atticus much more interesting, much cooler and I like the literary association.

Alex(Anderson) is overused and a little boring in comparison.

pipilangstrumpf · 13/02/2018 10:27

Sorry meant to say Alex(ander)

mum2be2boys · 13/02/2018 11:08

I much prefer Alexander Jacob

AmberTopaz · 13/02/2018 11:10

I’m with your DH. I love To Kill a Mockingbird but personally I’d avoid a name so closely associated with one particular character. (Did you see the thread the other day about Hannibal?!)

SunsetOverEasterIsland · 13/02/2018 11:17

Adore Atticus, not so unusual that people haven't heard it, but definitely not used a lot.

I do love names that are not used a lot - only 2 boys in UK registered with my son's name in the year he was born. Lots of Alex's of both sex around.

MikeUniformMike · 13/02/2018 17:48

Atticus screams out 'Mummy read a book, one, at school'.
It is probably far more popular than you think.
Much as I love TKAM, I wouldn't use it. Just like I wouldn't name a child Jeremy or Jean Louise.
Alexander is popular for a reason. It's classic.
Alexander offers plenty of scope for nn's.
Al, Ally, Alec, Alex, Sandy, Sasha...

user1459464195 · 13/02/2018 17:55

I much prefer Alexander to Atticus. There are many famous Alexanders yet only one famous Atticus. And I'm not sure I'd want my child's name linked to a book such as TKAMB.

RavenWings · 13/02/2018 18:16

Alexander Jacob.

Atticus is a bit try hard and middle class notion-y. Plus a lot of people dislike how the character changed in GSEW.

GottaGetThisDone · 13/02/2018 18:37

I like Alexander Jacob of the two choices.....but I think Alexander Atticus sounds great too

DramaAlpaca · 13/02/2018 21:25

I'm on team DH here. Sorry OP.

AnotherRoadsideAttraction · 13/02/2018 21:26

I like Jacob Alexander, as it flows nicely.

But between you and your husband's choices, I like his better.

TulipsInABlueVase · 13/02/2018 21:46

Alexander definitely, but I don't like Jacob. Atticus is awful.
