What is the nn Tot short for?

We are researching our family tree and we have found a long lost Auntie called Tot. Anyone know what it might be short for?

Charlotte? A friend of mine has a dd called Charlotte, nn Totty.

It’s not one I’ve heard of tbh. Could be from Dot from Dorothy, could also maybe be if she was the youngest or perhaps youngest girl?
I have known of someone nicknamed cissy from sister, so sometimes these things aren’t obvious!

There was a Tot in my family but it wasn’t anything to do with her actual name; it was because she was small compared to her siblings. The name stuck for her whole life though - I was quite old before I learned her real name!

It might not be anything - I have several relatives with nicknames which don't tie up with a real name. When you're doing your family tree it can lead you down a blind alley.

When I was doing mine I foun a "Bet" who I'd assumed was Elizabeth but who was actually a Janet.

I worked for someone called Tot. It’s was just her name not short for anything.

I have a great uncle called Totty.

I'm not sure it's related to his actual name though - I have a feeling its Arthur.
