What are your thoughts on Victoria? I'm looking for a classic, timeless name but I'm terrible at making decisions so wanted some opinions/help or other classic name suggestions.

Victoria is lovely.I dislike Vicky, but do like Tori.

I love the name Victoria.
Of the Victoria's I know, two are known as 'Vicky' and the other two are 'Tori'. The Vicky's are both over 30, I think it was more common then to be Vicky.
The Tori's are both under 30.

Charsimam I know what you mean when you say that Victoria is not timeless". It's a relatively recent newcomer, compared to the vastly older, long-standing names on the OP's list, but Queen Victoria has given it some (a lot) of extra weight, I think. But I suppose the name was "invented" for her. I've never heard of another, earlier one.

Not too fond.. And Tori just makes me think of the Conservative party so don't like that either!

I've a feeling it was also her mother's name. But she was forrin so it may well have been new to the UK when she arrived.

MrsH yes, of course, that's right. Thank you. Maybe it was more common on the Continent, or was spelled Viktoria as well.

That's a point - nearly all the Victorias I've encountered recently have Polish heritage and are spelt Wiktoria.

(NC) I'm a 1971 Victoria - I have quite a few friends similarly aged who are Vicky or Vicki - but I have always been Victoria and actually love the name in its full version.

I love it. I know a baby Victoria and her mum calls her Vivi. It’s cute.

I have a good friend called Victoria. Or Vic. Never Vicky. Parents always insisted on Victoria and she corrects anyone that says Vicky back to Victoria.

Has a harsh sound to me, and I dislike the nicknames. Also quite dated without being classic.
