No actual baby, just fantasy baby naming.

What do you think?

It's an OK name, but so so popular now. I know three Freyas who were born last year, and one that's arriving soon! If it's not in the top 10 now I bet it will be this year.

Also from The Snowgoose by Paul Gallico

I really dislike it. And there are so many now!

Zaya71 · 30/01/2018 21:09

I love it, but would never use it due to popularity in my area, there are three in my DDs baby room at nursery. Like Pp suggestion of Astrid.

wowfudge · 30/01/2018 21:11

I have a colleague in Germany called Astrid who I only know through email and she's lovely!

SpottyGecko · 30/01/2018 21:13

I'm not fussed tbh. It doesn't trip off the tongue to me.

MikeUniformMike · 30/01/2018 21:15

I like Astrid but fear it might become popular. It makes me think of Pippi Longstocking.

I’ve only known two Freya’s both were very very bright. Brown eyed, dark haired lovely girls consequently that’s how I associated the name. So I think it’s a fabulous name. Ps one was nicknamed by her brother as ‘ray-ray’ she was so lovely I even liked that.

Yes Freya was a norse goddess. Second favourite goddess name after Gaia.

It's a beautiful name but very pagan too. I grew up pagan and knew lots of Freya, herne, rhys, gaia, Nieve. While all beautiful names not for me.

stellarfox · 01/02/2018 20:53

Beautiful name and not super popular

NewYearNiki · 01/02/2018 20:56

It's also the name of a bra manufacturer for big boobs, all my bras are Freya!

Mine too.

I wondered if people would pick up on that.

I am mystified by the too popular comments. Not as popular as Sophie, Sophia, Amelia, Isabelle, Isabel, Isabella of which there are millions.
