Boy's names, if I like...

DC 2 is due in a week or so. We're sorted for girl's names but still not set on boys. As I've had a bit of a rough pregnancy DP is letting me pick. I like Ignatius, Xavier, Solomon, Cornelius and Erasmo. Also like Hector but then found the bullying meaning and it's put me off a little bit. What other names do you think I might like or thoughts?

Hironomous, Harry for short?

I like Hector from your list, and I wouldn't worry about the bullying meaning, personally.

What about Horatio, Caspar, Tristan or Gideon?

MikeUniformMike · 25/01/2018 19:53

I'd go with Cornelius.

Sugarpiehoneyeye · 25/01/2018 19:53

Icarus
Atticus
Isambard

Oh I love Ignatius so much! I really wanted to use it but have a child with a name that closely matches with Iggy which would be the nickname we'd want so we couldn't use it.

Icarus
Rufus
Sylvester
Orion
Cassius
Atticus
Atlas
Emerys
Emmet
Saul
Titus

I like Xavier and Cornelius. I also like Hector but I don't know what the bullying meaning thing is, what is it?

Thanks all I like suggestions of Linus, Balthazar, Silas and Icarus. Not sure DP would be down with Icarus though. Also like Lysander so see if I can get that back on the list. Smoliver to hector someone is to speak to them in a bullying and aggressive manner. It's not a term I'm familiar with but maybe other people are. Aticusss we'd use Iggy as a diminutive too, my 5 year old suggested this name early in pregnancy and I've really grown to like it. I'll probably find out that he got the name from some cartoon super villan. If we have Cornelius what shortening would you suggest? I'd rather not use Neil and the only other one I know of is Con/ Connie.

Quentin
Magnus

Silas reminds me of 'silage' but probably no-one else would think that!

Cornelius is a good name, but Corny as a nickname? I think keep thinking. Connie is a girl's name really.

Balthazar- again no obvious nickname (Batty?!) Bal? Lile Cal?

I like Barnaby out of the other suggestions.

Cassius?

LarkDescending · 26/01/2018 12:07

Barnabas, Bertram, Bartholomew, Ferdinand?
