Brianna or Breeanna?

ClaireBeauchampRandallFraser · 25/01/2018 07:59

DH really wants to name our child after his dad so Brian if it's a boy but I'm not sure what the correct spelling for a girl is. I like Breanna but he's insisting on Brianna, otherwise (we are in Scotland), she'll be made fun of for having an English spelling of her name.

Any idea?

Doilooklikeatourist · 25/01/2018 08:06

Brianna

PhuntSox · 25/01/2018 08:06

Agree Brianna. Also other Bri names like Brier or Bryher (an island).

Awwlookatmybabyspider · 25/01/2018 08:11

Brianna. Do you not like Bryony.

afrikat · 25/01/2018 08:11

Brianna
Or Bryany?

Allaboutthatcake · 25/01/2018 08:15

Tell your husband to get a grip, when their are Baylees, Maizees and the like in the class no one will give a damn about spelling and certainly not because you’re in Scotland.

That said, Brianna is a more common version but if you’re outlander fans it might haunt you further down the line.

I’m in Scotland, no one ever got bullied at my school over English spellings.

CourtneyLoveIsMySpiritAnimal · 25/01/2018 08:17

This is a wind up. Or someone trying (and failing) to be funny.

These are characters from the tv show Outlander.

Awwlookatmybabyspider · 25/01/2018 08:19

Is this a wind up or someone trying to be funny.

I doubt it. No-ones that bored, surely to God.

PickleSarnie · 25/01/2018 08:20

The user name makes it pretty clear it's an attempt at being funny.

Allaboutthatcake · 25/01/2018 08:25

🤦🏻‍♀️

Hilarious. It’s too early in the morning for me.

afrikat · 25/01/2018 08:28

Dammit I didn't see the username Blush

Awwlookatmybabyspider · 25/01/2018 08:30

I don't know anything about Outlander.
I've never watched it.
Haven't lived have i Grin

FairfaxAikman · 25/01/2018 08:36

It's a traditional Celtic name Courtney, just cos an author used it doesn't mean anyone else using it is naming their child after that character. (Unless of course it's Wendy as JM Barrie completely made that one up).

OP I think it's a lovely name. It's actually the one we have picked out if DC is a girl.
It's unusual enough that there won't be loads on every class but not "out there".

It is traditionally spelled Brianna though.

PickleSarnie · 25/01/2018 09:19

It might be a traditional name fairfax And it's actually quite pretty. But did you miss the bit where the the OP says if it's a boy it will be called Brian? "Baby Brian"??!

CourtneyLoveIsMySpiritAnimal · 25/01/2018 09:21

I'm not disputing that fairfax but look at OP's name. Plus the fact that just about everything in the OP is from the plot of Outlander.

FairfaxAikman · 25/01/2018 09:35

Sorry missed that Courtney. Sleep deprived and possibly a bit touchy as we have chosen this name (but not for Outlander reasons).

CourtneyLoveIsMySpiritAnimal · 25/01/2018 09:40

No bother fairfax

It's a nice name. And judging from this thread it's highly unlikely that most people will get the Outlander connection if you do decide to go with it Grin

TatianaLarina · 25/01/2018 13:44

Brianna, I agree with him. Personally prefer Briar or Bryony.

TatianaLarina · 25/01/2018 13:46

”Baby Brian"??!

‘Brian that is called Brian’.

I agree that it’s a terrible name, I’d use it as a middle name personally.

cookiedough1 · 25/01/2018 13:59

Why do people insist on posting utter shit that wastes people's time?

I have never seen outlander so was just thinking of a reply to this as I RTFT only to find out it's some sort of joke Hmm

This kind of thing is totally not funny. Totally unfair to posters with genuine replies.

ClaireBeauchampRandallFraser · 25/01/2018 16:27

Oh FGS, do unclench. Compared to the poo trolls and people who post asking how their friend can have a baby with a sex offender, this is nothing!

Sassenach signing out... lander
