Looking for some inspiration of any names we might have missed.
Due in March and can't seem to agree on "the one".

Here is the list we have so far-

Iris - my total favourite, DH not keen
Isobel- we both like but don't love (Scottish spelling is the one we like as DH part scot). Also Isabelle spelling/Isabella v popular.
Fearne- both like
Violet- both like
Agnes- both really like but we both have A initials so feels a bit wrong/we don't want an A name. And maybe too old lady.
Lily- really like but far too popular.

So any others that leap out at you? Thank you!

I've got a childhood friend called Fern and she's always loved that she's never met another - I like both spellings.

How about Heather or Eleanor or Jasmine or Martha?

DwangelaForever · 22/01/2018 21:30

I like Isabelle as the spelling for Isobel. I quite like Harriet but I know this isn't on your list.

(In order of preference)

Violet- Strong contender for my daughters name (due May) DP has his heart set on it. Odd how you added this just after I made a thread asking if it was popular! haha great minds think alike ;)
Iris - Love! Would possibly be on our list but haven't pitched it to DP.
Isobel- I like this spelling
Fearne- I really like it, my DP isn't so keen
Agnes- Not a mega fan but these names are making a comeback. Also a very good Glass Animals song.
Lily- Nice but popular. I know so many Lily's from 0-17. Also aren't lilies what you traditionally have at funerals?

You've got a good list there so I don't want to add any more names until you whittle it down a little. Good luck! :)

I have an Ishbel in my family - it's a pretty name

Or how about Heather?

I love Lily and Violet from your list.

Some suggestions:

  • Ailsa (for something Scottish)
  • Dahlia (less popular flower name)
  • Agatha (might be slightly less "old lady")
  • Emilia
  • Daphne (another less popular floral name)
  • Aster (again, a less popular floral name)
  • Estelle
  • Eleanor / Elinor
  • Flora
  • Hera (Greek Queen of the Gods)
  • Freya (Norse Goddess)
  • Juliet
  • Phoebe
  • Josephine (could shorten to Posy)
  • Tabitha

I love Iris and Agnes. Then Isobel. Fearne is a surname to me. Not keen on Violet.

Meemzinha · 23/01/2018 18:27

Violet and as someone else said.. Iona is nice if Your DH is Scottish!

Kittykatmacbill · 23/01/2018 19:19

Love Agnes (dh foiled me for dd1, and her name is too similar for us to use it!).

Isobel is nice, but ishbel is a lot nicer.

Really dislike violet as name, I would always feel that my dd would be one pushing incident of being called violent for the rest of her school days....

meettherussians · 23/01/2018 22:08

Violet- beautiful, graceful but still has a fun energy about it. I think of the lovely flower- so far removed from the term "violent"- millions of names could sound like another term if you removed/added a letter, my word dont let that stop you.

FlawlessFuckup · 23/01/2018 22:17

Really like your list Op.

My faves are Iris, Agnes, Lily and Violet.
I quite like Isobel, but hate Isabella.

Other names that come to mind:
Martha
Esther
Sarah

justtheonethen · 23/01/2018 22:32

Thank you all Smile. You're all marvellous.

Have added quite a few to the list. Lots to mull over/try and win DH over with! I do think I really like Violet now. I'm certainly not put off by what it could sound like!
