Boys names...aargh

2nd boy due in a few months..

Currently have Ivar, pronounced Eye-vah not Eeee-vah. I'm totally stuck and my husband totally useless. He won't suggest anything but says no to all my ideas.

Names I like but he doesn't
Gabriel
Laurie
Willem
Hugo/Hugh

Asa has been mentioned and not totally scoffed at but I'm not 100% keen to be honest.

Middle name will be Alexander unless it really doesn't fit.

Any ideas??

Ivar and Hugo would be cool

Conrad
Corin
George
Gregory

My Dh was useless there's an app or a webpage somewhere someone poster on here when I was trying to find one- you tick all the names you like he does the same (you can't see each other's options) then it will show you the ones you both ticked- hopefully someone will know it?

How about Lawrence, shortened to Laurie? I really like the name John; although it used to be common, I haven't heard of anyone calling their son this in years. Good, strong name.

Also like Arthur (Art), Roman and Leon.

Ryan
Jax
Harley
Bailey
Reese
Enzo
Quinn

Okay so just googled weird boys names and that came up but I quite like bailey Alexander

Standardpubquizname · 19/01/2018 19:14

Felix (although may not go with Alexander)
Rory
Raphael
Asher (if you like Asa)
Henry
Miles

Would Alexander work as a first name? Goes quite well with Ivor and has good nn options

schrutefarms · 19/01/2018 19:34

Thanks all, some good suggestions!

@GlorianaBanana yes I think so too but husband thinks it’s too popular/we have a friend called Hugo.

@Standardpubquizname my brother is Alexander so don’t want to use it as a 1st name. And Felix is ds1’s middle name/BIL’s name.

I like Ivar and would pronounce it Ee-var not Eye-var but it's your child's name.
Hugh Alexander sounds good.
I think Bryn or Niall would go well with Ivar (Eye-var).

schrutefarms · 19/01/2018 20:13

@MikeUniformMike yes that’s the correct scandi way to pronounce it. When I was pregnant with ds1 I suggested Ivor but it wasn’t acceptable... somehow Ivar was. This is what I’m up against!!

I just suggested Leif and he made some approving noises. I don’t love it.

DS1 thinks Geoffrey!

Thank you all for the suggestions, there’s quite a few that I like but can’t use for whatever reason/husband says no. I love Quentin!

Husband admitted today that he liked Ivo (I mentioned it after seeing it on another thread), I love Ivo but in what world can we have Ivar and Ivo??! I feel like he’s being deliberately combative now. I don’t know where to go from here but I’m sure we’ll find something eventually 🙄.

I detect Eastern European tones, so how about Ivar and Boris?

mondler · 21/01/2018 19:18

I love Quin. How about:

Evan
Arlo
Louis
Spencer

blinkineckmum · 22/01/2018 08:03

Geoffrey is the best suggestion so far.

schrutefarms · 22/01/2018 09:27

We had a bit of a breakthrough last night and husband said he liked 2 names that I suggested. They’re not my favourites but it’s a start.

Names are Wynn and Etienne.

Out of the 2 I think I prefer Wynn but not sure it works with our double barrell surname. Husband seems quite keen on Etienne. I like it but is it just ridiculously pretentious?? We aren’t French but our surname is and husband has a French 1st name (obviously some French ancestory on his side somewhere).

Opinions welcome!

Not keen myself. But not too pretentious assuming you guys aren't pretentious yourselves... How about Finn?
