What do you think of this for a girl?

Bunty has cankles and rosy cheeks and is a demon on the lacrosse field. Also has the most frightful pash on Fenella in the Upper Fifth.

If you want a name that is not seen in a negative way don't pick Bunty! It's a pretty horrible nickname and really wouldn't be a great first name. I'd expect to hear a name like Bunty on the Crown, not given to a newborn little girl.

Full name Buntington Cressida Worsley-Smyth.

janie2 · 17/01/2018 22:40

Bunty was my Grandma's name! Shortened from Barbara. I love it, but I guess I am really biased 😀

T00much · 18/01/2018 10:07

Sorry, really don't like it. Makes me think of the comic I used to get as a kid [shows age]

Rebeccaslicker · 18/01/2018 11:23

Sorry, but it's asking for the obvious rhyme. Plus reminds me of this

crunchymint · 18/01/2018 17:06

Don't worry I have given up on that name.

Its a posh girl nickname. You simply cannot christen a child Bunty, its beyond cruel and you really wont achieve your aim. I know someone upper class with an aunt called Bunny. Her real name is Ruth. If you are concerned about people thinking a name chavvy chose something nice and traditional and spell it correctly! Zak as a name is fine, it just ought to be spelt Zach, short for Zachary. All the poshies I know would never dream of spelling creatively or christening someone with a nickname. Sorry to be blunt [blush}

crunchymint · 18/01/2018 17:16

Its fine. When I first heard of Zak I thought it was spelt that way and did not realise it was a shortened name.

The Bunty I knew (she'd be in her late 90s by now, but she died 15 years ago) it was short for Augusta.

Not sure that's much better though!

cheshiremama89 · 18/01/2018 17:17

Love it

TatianaLarina · 18/01/2018 18:05

Bunty is an ace nickname. Why not choose a B name and call her Bunty at home - Beatrice, Blanche, Briony, Bathsheba.

TatianaLarina · 18/01/2018 18:16

Beatrice is a lovely name

I think Beatrice nn Bunty is excellent.

llangennith · 18/01/2018 18:21

I love the name. My friend has dogs called Bunty and Binky.

Glitterspy · 18/01/2018 18:28

Bunty? Bit cunty.

NachoFries · 18/01/2018 19:29

Bunty could work as a nickname but not an actual name unless you were naming a pet or something. To be honest, it reminds me of bunting not to mention the nursery rhyme Bye, Baby Bunting:

Bye, baby bunting,
Daddy's gone a-hunting,
To get a little rabbit skin
To wrap the baby bunting in.

MangoAppleMango · 18/01/2018 19:36

Antonia it’s one thing saying you don’t like a potential baby name but it’s pretty bad form slagging off OPs son’s name, especially when she didn’t ask your opinion on it.
Bunty is a great nickname, good luck finding your perfect name OP.

domesticslattern · 18/01/2018 19:44

If I met a baby in real life called Bunty, I would be very polite to your face and then go round the corner and piss myself laughing.
It has appalling connotations of fat schoolgirls in the forties playing hockey. Sorry.

crunchtime · 18/01/2018 19:49

you want a charlotte or an alice or an alexandra or a helena or elizabeth

not bunty-please not bunty

ohlittlepea · 18/01/2018 19:52

No..because of cunty.

Antonia87 · 18/01/2018 20:06

I was probably too blunt but OP said that people were calling her DS's name Chavvy and thats why she wanted a posh one so as not to make the same mistake. I was simply clarifying why people may have said that. I didnt meant to offend. Sorry!
