Posted on here the other day about the name Lara Isabelle, me and my OH was talking today OH prefers Tara to Lara. What do you guys think?

Zara-Rose has too many “r” sounds to pronounce easily.

Zara-Rose Isabella is beautiful. Tara is the name of Scarlett O'Hara's home in gone with the wind and I love it too.

@Lauren1x, it's absolutely fine, lovely name, I'm sure she'd be flattered.

I prefer Tara.

I only know one. It's unusual without being sorry whaat?

Lara is pretty too but it's just so soft it would merge in to lauren. I wouldn't be sure if I'd heard Lara or Lauren.

I think Mara is by far the nicest of all the -ara names.

There is also Tegan which I would put in the same category as Tara

A mara is a long-legged guinea-piggy animal, not awfully attractive.

I like Tara a lot.

Also, DH and I both have a cousin called Will. That didn’t stop us having William on the shortlist for DS.

Mara means bitter though, that mighn't put others off but I wouldn't like that meaning.

Tara is lovely! I prefer it to Lara.

Someone will come along and tell you Zara-Rose is chavvy because it's double barrelled.

I've said it before, I'll say it again. Chavvy is a horrible word, and i don't think it's fair to label people with a certain name (or their parents) as that.

My DD is a Tara, it's an unusual but not uncommon name and she's lovely. We liked it because it was Irish (for me) but is also a common Kurdish name (family connections) Hindi & Nigerian (for good friends).

I think Lara sounds a bit softer and less harsh for some reason, and therefore prefer it.
Good luck agreeing on a name.

I like Tara. I know one who is very posh, so I don't see it as a downmarket name. I prefer it to both Lara and Zara-Rose. Tamara is nice, too.

Tara is the name of a mental home back where I'm from so it's a no no from me!!!!

OH doesnt like Zoe😭 And oh really shsh3r and I love Rose but my sister beat me to it! Oh I can see why you wouldn't want Tara then lol!

Lois is nice. Also like Zara on its own.
