If I like Parceval,

What else would I like?
Also love Tristan, Tristram, Edmund, Edward, Wilfred, Joshua. So a medieval/antique/vintage sound.

Not possible : Also like Galahad (way too Arthurian, like Lancelot). And Sigismund, but far too out-there.

And do you think Parceval is too insane? Context: We live in Europe, and as i wrote on another thread, names like Titus, also Julius, Jonas and Sebastian are bread and butter, run of the mill names here.

Parzival, Parsifal, Perceval, Parcival etc are all spellings that have been used (depends on the context, the county etc)... Perceval might be as well.

But it reminds me of Wagner. Which isn’t a plus imo. Whereas Percival is a bit more Arthurian imo, which I prefer.

Alaric, Terrence, Wolfgang, Ludwig, Egbert, Cuthbert, Rasmus, Severin, Alfred, Bertram, Elric, Harold, Wilhelm, Nicklaus etc are imo similar names.

You might also like Arik.

I'm distantly related to a (now deceased) Hrothgar. I don't necessarily recommend it.

@faking

Yes! He must be about 2yo by now. He has three older sisters with equally unusual names, plus an unusual surname. I met the mum at university. She was quite a character, so the names make sense!

sproutsandparsnips · 09/01/2018 20:37

Parsifal?

SylviaTietjens · 09/01/2018 20:41

Percy is a nickname for a penis?! Really? I’ve met many a penis in my time but none of them a Percy.

Parseval does sound a bit too much like a delivery company but Percival is ok. I prefer a lot of other medieval names like Roland, Tristan, Merlin and Eric though.

Aymeric
Gawain
Balthazar

Parzival is a main character's avatar name in the book Ready Player One which comes out as a pretty big Spielberg film this year, so the name might suddenly become more common.

Harebellmeadow · 15/01/2018 19:17

Hi rumtitum that is valuable information indeed that a name is in an upcoming big film - there may indeed be a surge in Parcevals or Percivals or Parzifals next year depending on which version of Arthurian tales they have been reading.

Thanks everyone for the input. Now is time to dream and hope for a healthy child and slowly wonder about whether it could be a girl or boy.

Parzeval is Wade's avatar in Ready Player One.

If you are a fan you could use Wade, at least it's a real name.

What if the film is shit? Grin

Harebellmeadow · 15/01/2018 19:56

Thanks for the info. No idea what an avatar is - but the impending popularity of a name would be far more off putting to me than the obscure Medieval character of a name (which seems to be a plus for me)
Wade is possibly not on the baby names list because for me it is a surname, like Pendragon ;)
