I'm a Lara. Hated it as a kid as it was different. But I love it now. And as you've said, far less common than Olivia. Olivia is pretty but I wouldn't ever use it because there are so many about. It's almost like the Sarah/Laura of the early 90s.

I like both names but not together, I don't like the double a ending sound lar-a isabell-a. You'd be much better with Lara Isabelle. It flows much better.

(Vivienne, Josephine, Elizabeth, Imogen, Beatrice, Marguerite, Amabel, Annabel, Mabel, Florence, Clementine, Nathalie, Charlotte, Claire, Daphne and Violet would work as well imo.)

I love Lara Isabelle. Isabelle is better than Isabella after Lara. I think if the first name ends in an ‘a’ sound then the second name shouldn’t or it sounds a bit sing-song.

Such pretty names though. I’m sure whatever you pick will be lovely.

And I agree with PPs that there are a lot of Australian women in their late 30s called Lara. Not sure why that is, but that doesn’t make it a bad name

Not a fan of Lara. I'm also Australian and know several adult/middle-aged Laras. It seems outdated to me.

I do like Isabella though.

I love Isabella but every second child on the playground seems to be some derivative of Isabelle at the moment.

I personally like names that are alittle dated as it means there won't be loads of Lara's in your child's school. Who wants a common name that loads of other children are called anyway?
