Not pregnant yet! But trying.!

Our DS name is Isaac because we like the name and how it is traditional but not too popular.

I know I wil change names 10 million times throughout this experience. (DS was a happy accident, it was 20 weeks before we knew I was pregnant! so I am so excited about planning and having the full experience.)

I like for a girl:

Edwina
Elizabeth
Penelope

For a boy;

Bric
Tobias
Ezra

Sorry really getting ahead of myself, but I am so excited! Xx

Bric is awful! Don’t name it that!

feral · 02/01/2018 22:56

Is Bric a typo for Eric?!

ChristmasHo · 02/01/2018 22:56

Bric, is not my favourite but I honestly can’t think of any names for a boy that match Isaac that my sisters or SILS. Haven’t chosen! Boys names are the hardest!

I snogged a boy called Brick once Grin
Think that was his 'cool' teen nickname though.

PurpleDaisies · 02/01/2018 23:00

I love the little girl on outnumbered asking the bloke called Brick “but what’s your real name?”

Don’t do it.

ChristmasHo · 02/01/2018 23:03

Ok so Bric is out! I ovulate in 4 days!! I’m banging on my 30s now so not holding much hope it will be easy! But we will be so grateful for a baby this year! And thinking of names takes all the stress out of it! X

Brick is a character in The Middle.

OP, Isaac is about as biblical a name as you can get! So is Elizabeth.

Canyousewcushions · 02/01/2018 23:04

Elizabeth and Ezra are both biblical, lovely names though. Ezra in particular has a similar old testament feel to Isaac.

If you want to avoid biblical, celtic based or nature names may be good places to start? It's surprising how many names are biblical in origin.

mysteryfairy · 02/01/2018 23:05

Elizabeth is the mother of John the Baptist, Ezra and Tobias are both Old Testament names, so not really fitting the non biblical brief.

I know a lot of Isaacs and thinking about it most have biblically inspired siblings too!

For a boy how about
Oscar
Rudy
Elliott
Theo
Felix
Dominic
Jasper
Max

squoosh · 02/01/2018 23:06

I assume the OP is asking for non biblical names so as to avoid a religious double whammy with the obviously OT Isaac.

Nevista · 02/01/2018 23:08

I know brothers called Isaac, Tobias and Levi

ChristmasHo · 02/01/2018 23:08

I feel like most names crop up in the bible in some variation. I am just trying to avoid people thinking we have purposely named our children in this way!

Jasper is lovely for a boy though m, thank you x

Titty I love the middle! That’s where I got it from. I almost suggested axyl 😁

Ezra is biblical.
Louisa, Freya, Ingrid, Nolwenn, Edward, Edmund, Edwin, Albert, Alfred, Charles, Charlotte, Matilda, Louis, Rowan, Cormac, Alexander, Henry, Rose, Eric, Oscar, Magnus, Hector and Thorfinn are non-biblical (please correct me if I'm wrong...)

I really don't like Bric.

ChristmasHo · 02/01/2018 23:13

I get it, Bric is out. I feel a strong pull to Edwina (especially as an ab-fab fan!)

Isaac is not “not too popular”. It is one of the most common names amongst my dc’s peers. There is usually 1 in every group of children they are involved with - school class, Cubs/Beavers, swimming etc.

Non biblical names -
Anders
Emily

ChristmasHo · 02/01/2018 23:17

I have the most boring name in n the world but my brother is Zachary and my sister is Anelia.. I am Laura...

OP posts:
Clare2017 · 02/01/2018 23:25

She's Edina in Ab Fab, not Edwina. So there's another option.

I like Ezra. Think it goes well with Isaac.

ChristmasHo · 02/01/2018 23:28

Also I know Isaac is gaining popularity, but there is no one in his class or school called that name! Plenty of Sebastian’s and Edwards though.

I hated being one of 12 Laura’s in my year group! I especially hated how my brother and sister had unique names (at the time!)

tReally Clare! Perhaps it’s my northern accent! I do like Ed-Wee-Nar though xx

Thanks all for entertaining my craziness tonight though! Really excited to be pregnant again, fingers crossed it will happen soon.

I know some people who have had horrible pregnancies think I am bonkers, but. Really want to feel pregnant. Morning sickness, piles and all.

I feel I missed out on being pregnant. Not knowing til so late with my DS.xx

Hah, my name's Elizabeth and my best friend is Edwina. Grin

Word of caution against Edwina. She has been called "Wee" and "Weenie" as a nickname for as long as I've known her. Some people took to calling her Eddie in adulthood, but Wee and Weenie have endured for the majority. She hates her name.

I like Elizabeth, but hate Liz/Lizzie (and that's what the default shortening will be, unfortunately). Love Penelope, but don't like Penny, so same issue.

Bric is awful. Tobias and Ezra are both nice, but Ezra is having a bit of a moment now, so if you're concerned about appearing trendy, I would avoid that. It might end up sounding dated a few years from now. Tobias is a strong, classic name, and it goes well with Isaac. Toby is lovely too.

deptfordgirl · 03/01/2018 08:34

Ezra is very much associated with the old testament so I would assume a person with children called Isaac and Ezra was Jewish or Christian. Gorgeous names though.

Sugarpiehoneyeye · 03/01/2018 10:27

Isaac and Bram
Isaac and Rex

Isaac and Isobel
Isaac and Cleo

MikeUniformMike · 03/01/2018 12:07

Ab Fab's Edina was really Edwina. Ezra is a bit trendy, Not keen on Tobias/Toby. Bric sounds like Prick.
Elizabeth doesn't have to be Liz or Lizzie - Beth, Lily, Bet, Betsie, Elsie, Eliza, Libby etc are all forms of Elizabeth.
