Similar name to friend

One of my favourite boy names is Zachary, which would undoubtedly be shortened to Zac. However, a close friend of mine has a Jack. I’m thinking it could get confusing having a Zac and a Jack when we’re out together. I’m also thinking it could cause offence naming my son something similar sounding. Would you be upset if a friend did it?

Not in the slightest... totally different name.it would be very unreasonable and a bit strange if she did mind in my opinion.

Shmithecat · 02/01/2018 18:42

No. They're totally different names. Can't see the issue myself.

troodiedoo · 02/01/2018 18:44

Read the title and thought you were considering Friend as a name Grin

That's fine!

Luckingfovely · 02/01/2018 19:17

It's absolutely fine! Don't overthink it and enjoy your Zac Smile

ThroughThickAndThin01 · 02/01/2018 19:19

I think it's fine.

beingGoodNow · 02/01/2018 19:27

Totally different names. Even if you wanted the same that would be fine.

Smoliver · 02/01/2018 22:26

Definitely fine. I don't see an issue with the name.

DramaAlpaca · 02/01/2018 22:28

It's fine, they are completely different names.

ColinsVeryJolly · 03/01/2018 01:13

I have a Zach, my brother has a Jack.

I trip over my teeth sometimes when I'm talking to them at the same time, but other than that it's really not a problem.

Cavender · 03/01/2018 01:19

You are seriously overthinking this.

Zac and Jack are fine.

Bellamuerte · 03/01/2018 08:45

I don't see an issue even if you gave your child exactly the same name as a friend's child. Your friend doesn't own the name!

wednesdayswench · 03/01/2018 08:55

They aren't the same name.

cece · 03/01/2018 09:07

They are completely different. I can't see it as being a problem at all.

Sugarpiehoneyeye · 03/01/2018 10:20

Not a problem at all.

userabcname · 03/01/2018 10:25

No not too similar at all! Love the name Zac - one of my absolute faves!

AlmostChristmas · 03/01/2018 21:46

It's a absolutely fine. They are completely different names it with similar diminutives. Think Timothy and Thomas- Tim and Tom!

My boy football team has-

Blake
Jake
Jack
Zach
Max
Fox
Loch (Lochlan)

Us parents don't get muddled or tounge tied, the coach has know too though Grin

horatioisabrick · 04/01/2018 11:44

Perfectly fine! It's a lovely name :)

buttercup54321 · 04/01/2018 15:00

Different names. No issue imo

BlackberryandNettle · 05/01/2018 23:18

Completely fine. Also you'd initially announce Zachary, so not that similar to Jack in the long form
