Would you only use a meaningful middle name?

I'm not pregnant/TTC, but I'm just curious.

I absolutely love a name that I'd never use as a first name (for various reasons) but would love it as a middle name. However, there's also a more meaningful name I could use, that I don't mind, but don't love.

Would you only go for the meaningful one?

Both of my DC have 2 middle names. Both are ‘meaningful’ but similarly if they weren’t and I’d liked 2 other names I’d have still given them 2.

Go with whatever you’d prefer or with both.

Our kids have our second choice name as their middle name.

I have one dc with a meaningful middle name. Expecting dc2 now and plan to give him a second choice name.

I’d would only use a meaningful one. Personally I don’t see the point otherwise. It’s not a name that is going to be used in regular day to day life. I would either give a meaningful one or give none at all

A middle name can be an alternative if you dislike your given name though - I know a few people who go by their middle names and often wish I'd started doing so when I was younger as I've never really felt my given name is "me". So especially if your first choice name is unusual a more conventional middle name has merit - and vice versa.

Meaningful or daring! Or if the first name is daring, then a more 'normal' middle name.

YY @evelyn, we’re planning to pick a back-up name, in case dc2 hates the first name we choose, (or if the royals pick the same name - I’m due a few months before DoC, so they might pick our name when dc2 is a few months old, at which point we’d change it if it was the same)!
