Thoughts for a girl?

OP posts:

As bad as that Playboy model who died. Named her kid Danielynn or some stupid name after the death of her son. Yuck.

TheTroutofNoCraic · 23/12/2017 15:28

In the words of my 2yo DS 'Nnnnyuck!'

bluesu · 23/12/2017 15:52

Mmmm it's not to my taste.

Ohmyfuck · 23/12/2017 15:53

No.

froshiechipandbrickie · 23/12/2017 18:19

For an actual person? I don’t like it.

What about Dana, Danielle or Davina?

Dana Lee is nice imo. (But I really wouldn’t hyphenate it!)

SilverySurfer · 23/12/2017 18:24

Hideous

Abra1d · 23/12/2017 18:26

That is probably the most “Mumsnet” response I have ever read!

I think you may be right!

AlmostChristmas · 23/12/2017 18:26

Urgh- your having a laugh aren't you IO? Confused

halfwitpicker · 23/12/2017 18:28

Very Virginia Andrews.

pilates · 23/12/2017 18:42

Terrible

FartnissEverbeans · 23/12/2017 21:03

Dannalee would have a massive JoJo bow.

Yeah I bet she'd also live on a council estate haha amirite and her dad drives a white van

Absolutely disgusting, classist comments on this thread. Wtf is wrong with this board? Dannalee is horrifying but in other threads people are seriously suggesting Calliope and Rupert??

Try to be more subtle in your prejudices ffs.

OP, I'm a teacher, I've taught thousands of children and I just want to reassure you that neither I, nor your daughter's classmates, would bat an eyelid at Dannalee. In fact I even think it's quite pretty. Probably worth asking into account how nasty and judgemental some people can be through, as demonstrated on this thread.

yousignup · 23/12/2017 21:06

@BertrandRussell Danae is a name in southern Europe. It's not common, but considered a "classy" name.

LadyKyliePonsonbyFarquhar · 23/12/2017 21:09

Just no.

strawberrypenguin · 23/12/2017 21:36

Dana
Danae
Danielle
Deanna
Dianna

All ok. But I’m afraid what you’ve suggested doesn’t look like a name I’m afraid

CalpolandCoke · 23/12/2017 21:40

FFS. Sounds like one of those white trashy names that John reels off in the film "Ted"!

OliviaStabler · 23/12/2017 21:42

It's really, badly terrible.. sounds made-up, American and trashy beyond belief. Sorry to be harsh but you asked fgrin. Please don't do this to an innocent child.

This ^^

MotherofaSurvivor · 23/12/2017 23:49

Chav chav and even more chav

kaytee87 · 24/12/2017 06:11

It's not a name surely?

Freezingwinter · 24/12/2017 06:18

Agree with the horrible comments regarding Jojo bows and chav-iness. If you don't like the name fair enough but you really need to be more subtle in the way you are insulting people!

MollyHuaCha · 24/12/2017 07:51

In other threads people are seriously suggesting Calliope and Rupert

^ Well isn't this comment just as classist? Is there anything wrong with Rupert? I've known several.

IJoinedJustToPostThis · 24/12/2017 08:11

For me, connotations of the name Rupert are
a) Rupert Bear
b) Rupert Campbell-Black, the violent misogynist in a few Jilly Cooper books
which is why I wouldn't wish it as a name for anyone.

Indigo911 · 24/12/2017 08:18

I think the name Rupert would have less cause for ridicule seeing as it’s an actual name, than something silly and made up like dannalee

FartnissEverbeans · 24/12/2017 08:19

Well isn't this comment just as classist?

I didn't choose them as posh names. I chose them as outlandish names, which they are.

My point still stands. Nasty, bitchy, prejudiced comments.

StabbyBitchTheEvilWitch · 24/12/2017 08:22

Danni-Leigh? I know one, mainly just called danni now though.

Definitely not Dana-lee.

DeepanKrispanEven · 24/12/2017 08:24

What about Danna-Lee. Much better

It really isn't.
