Tess/Tessa or Jess?

I've narrowed dd to these names. Would use the fuller names ie Jessica or Tessa on bc but shorter most of the time.

But DH thinks Tess doesn't sound right with surname Tailor ( he doesn't like oliteration and says it sounds a bit like male anatomy!!) but I disagree. What do others think?

I love Tessa, DH detests it so off our list but I'd choose Tessa any day! However Jess/Jessica is also lovely.

Sugarpiehoneyeye · 20/12/2017 18:41

Tess.

Friolero · 20/12/2017 18:46

I really like Tess in its own right rather than a shortened version as not that keen on Tessa. I think I agree with your DH though, that it doesn't sound quite right with Tailor.

I love Jess, but would probably have Jessica or Jessamine as the longer version and just use Jess as a nn.

TeenTimesTwo · 20/12/2017 18:48

Tess and Tessa are both short for Theresa.
I'd go for Theresa.

onlyonaTuesday · 20/12/2017 18:48

Tess

Iamagreyhoundhearmeroar · 20/12/2017 18:49

Teresa.

Ceebs85 · 20/12/2017 18:51

I like Tess and dont mind the alliteration

GiveMeTheTeaAndNobodyGetsHurt · 20/12/2017 18:52

I like Tess and Tessa more than Jess, but they don't go with Taylor. Jess Taylor is a good name.

pinkflamingo121318 · 20/12/2017 18:52

I love the name Tessa! And Tess!

meanapparently · 20/12/2017 18:57

I must admit I heard Tess Taylor and thought testicular.

horatioisabrick · 20/12/2017 19:01

Tessa (nn Tess) Tailor is lovely. (But I’d go for Theresa, tbh.)

Magpie1976 · 20/12/2017 19:08

Oh no I thought it'd just be my OH making the testicles connection! I do really like both names but def can't go with Theresa ( thanks for ruling that one out Mrs May)

Cute names for kittens.

MikeUniformMike · 20/12/2017 19:45

I like both Tess and Jess, but prefer Tess.
Jessica is lovely.Tessa - Why bother, Tess is a name in itself.
Tess Taylor doesn't sound as nice as Jessica Taylor.

howthelightgetsin · 20/12/2017 19:54

I absolutely love Tess and Tessa... but I’m not sure with the surname.
If you do use it I think Tess Taylor because Tessa Taylor doesn’t sound right at all.. it sounds like one long word “tess-a-Taylor”

horatioisabrick · 20/12/2017 19:55

Vanessa Taylor is nice imo.

BathshebaKnickerStickers · 20/12/2017 19:56

I have a Tess, just Tess and everyone loves her name

BabloHoney · 20/12/2017 20:06

Both gorgeous but Jessica / Jess goes better with your surname. Congrats!

Magpie1976 · 20/12/2017 22:22

Thanks. I do love the name Tess, more than Tessa just thought Tessa went better with surname. But it seems a lot of agreement with my DH that it doesn't go so maybe his preferred choice of Jess is better.

mum2be2boys · 21/12/2017 07:21

I like both but prefer Jessica/Jess with your surname.

Zaya71 · 21/12/2017 16:23

My cousin is named Terese (TER - RAISE) on her bc but always known as Tess. Gives you a longer name to go with Taylor without the Mrs May association!

Magpie1976 · 21/12/2017 17:46

Terese is lovely. Is it French?

OP posts:
Zaya71 · 21/12/2017 18:10

It's Scandinavian, but there are variants of it... Therese I think is the French version, but she is is pronounced the same..

Zaya71 · 21/12/2017 18:11

That was supposed to say " Not sure"!

numberthr · 22/12/2017 10:28

Jess, love this name and it will be on the list if we have another girl
