Leo or Alexander

DC3 due in a few months and these names have jumped out at us so far. Already have a DS and DD with quite traditional (one biblical) names.

Interested in some opinions please to help us decide....

I love Alexander and Lex as a nn

grumpysquash3 · 11/12/2017 22:55

I have an Alexander - always Alex as it turned out. He is 17. It is quite a timeless name, a good classic, he has an unusual surname, so it all works out
I like Leo too, if I had another DS (unlikely at this point) I would consider it.

Dixiestampsagain · 12/12/2017 00:19

I like both, but Leo edges it (both were on my list when I had DS).

PrimeraVez · 12/12/2017 05:46

We have a Leo, but Alexander was also on the list. We've had lots of compliments on his name but it is definitely getting more popular (not that that bothers me particularly)

Leo Alexander is lovely!

Mrsknackered · 12/12/2017 11:16

I like both. I like Alexander, but only really like the shortening Sasha.
I like Leonardo or Leonidas with Leo as a nn. Smile

HildaZelda · 13/12/2017 00:39

Leo for sure.

itsgoingtoofast · 13/12/2017 18:23

So broadly it seems like I can't go wrong with either as most like both!

I'm really liking Leo Alexander at the minute, I think that could be a winner.

Thanks very much for all the replies

Both my DS have biblical names.
Much prefer Alexander.

BlackberryandNettle · 17/12/2017 20:49

Love both, you can't go wrong!

Potteryprincess30 · 17/12/2017 21:22

Leonardo

Ivygarden · 17/12/2017 21:40

Alexander

Whatsinanameanyway201 · 17/12/2017 21:44

I have an Alexander, beautiful traditional name. IMO Leo has turned somewhat chavvy.

pilates · 17/12/2017 22:07

Alexander is lovely, Leo isn’t

Idontmeanto · 17/12/2017 22:56

I seem to recall the odds on the next royal baby being Alexander/Alexandra were quite short. That would make me avoid it.

itsgoingtoofast · 17/12/2017 23:01

Oh @Whatsinanameanyway201 do you think so? I've never met a Leo before.

The royal thing is also a consideration, although I think Prince George has it as a middle name so might be safe if it's a boy....

Ok more food for thought, might have to add some more names to the list. Thanks!

Both nice names

Sealsarewaterdogs · 17/12/2017 23:25

Both lovely names.

I prefer Leo as I know many Alex's (both girls and boys) {I'm from London}.

As someone mentioned above, Leo Alexander does have a lovely ring to it though...

kaytee87 · 18/12/2017 00:14

Leo just looks unfinished to me. Like it's a nn for Leopold or Leonardo. I just think 'Leo the lion'.

DancingInTheRain86 · 18/12/2017 02:10

I think I prefer Leo but I do really like both names :)

Whatsinanameanyway201 · 18/12/2017 07:31

Absolutely meant no offence.. I guess I've heard it screeched across the school playground one too many times by the undesirables x
