Thoughts on the girls name Celie

Thanks everyone, much appreciated as struggling with name choices

I like it a lot. I think it's much prettier and more interesting than Celia, Celine or Cecelia, all of which I find a bit frumpy. It's much lighter and more chic than any of them.

We had a Celie at the school where I used to teach and it worked well.

I'd use it OP.

Shug says to Celie in The Color Purple:
You sho is ugly Miss Celie

So because a made-up character makes one remark to another made-up character saying she is ugly, that means that's all anyone can ever associate with the name Celie? That's logical.

Later on the two characters become lovers, so she must have changed her mind I suppose!

I always thought it was pretty in the colour purple. I like it

Would other kids be unkind and call her 'Silly' instead of Celie ?

Really nice some people can see the positives elements for a more unusual name
