Down to three boy names

Bennett
Guy
Rupert

Middle name will probably be Alexander, (which we can’t use as a first name and don’t especially want to).

Which is your favourite please? If you think they’re all terrible, then please just say which you hate the least.

TIA

In this order Guy, Bennet then Rupert.

lolalotta · 09/12/2017 20:27

Guy is one heck of a name to live up to imo. It's just so masculine and hard sounding.

Tigger001 · 09/12/2017 23:58

Love Rupert Alexander, it sounds and lovely strong name.

aussielinda4655 · 10/12/2017 00:02

Rupert Alexander sounds just fine.

buttercup54321 · 10/12/2017 00:50

Don't like any of them. But least dislike Rupert then Guy. Bennett is horrid.

pipilangstrumpf · 10/12/2017 07:47

Rupert and Bennett are great!

I don't like guy, sounds like boy.

EleanorXx · 12/12/2017 08:19

Rupert

BAR91 · 12/12/2017 08:24

I love Rupert

NinonDeLenclos · 12/12/2017 08:42

Guy.

Don't like Rupert or Bennett.

mum2be2boys · 12/12/2017 10:46

Love Rupert! Rupert Alexander is a great name :-)

LarkDescending · 12/12/2017 12:27

Swooning over Rupert Alexander! That's my pick.

(But I love Guy too).

Minty82 · 12/12/2017 12:31

Guy, definitely. Never heard of Bennett being used as a first name but not a fan of surnames as first names generally. (If he's going to end up as Ben, Benjamin Alexander is gorgeous!)
Rupert's a bit of a joke name to me I'm afraid, like Walter.

RestingGrinchFace · 12/12/2017 12:38

Bennett sounds extremely American and the connection with P&P isn't exactly a desirable one. I would go for either rupert or guy. Rupert has the perk of Rudy as a potential nickname which is super cute.

Wishfulmakeupping · 12/12/2017 12:41

Guy is my top pick, Rupert is ok, Bennett sounds like a surname to me so a tad American in that sense.
Emmett is an established name I prefer that to Bennett

Honeycombcrunch · 12/12/2017 12:57

Which name sounds better with your surname? If your surname is one or two syllables then avoid Guy because it's such a short name. Bennett is likely to be shortened to Ben and Rupert will become Roops, so check how those fit together with your surname too.

I prefer Guy or Bennett to Rupert.

SantaStuckInTheChimney · 12/12/2017 13:02

Guy

HuskyMcClusky · 12/12/2017 13:03

Guy, although I don’t love it.

Bennett is too surnamey.
Rupert is wet as anything. It’s like calling your son Percy or Wilfred (both of which mumsnetters probably love Grin).

Helena17 · 12/12/2017 13:03

Rupert or Bennett

Brokenbutbreathing · 12/12/2017 13:17

Bennett is a surname and horrid as a first name. The other two are both classic and lively.

Brokenbutbreathing · 12/12/2017 13:17

Lovely! Grin

Davespecifico · 12/12/2017 13:24

I like the name Rupert because there’s something very humorous about the sound of the word and it’s connotations. I don’t think Rupert himself would appreciate being called it though.
I don't know what Bennet is for. I know it can be used as a first name but it’s generally a surname so there’ll often be list confusion at his School.
Guy sounds like alpha male, unimaginative private school. It’s not interesting.
I suggest Rupert of the 3.

OhChill · 12/12/2017 13:38

@husky

I love Wilfred! It’s been vetoed by DH though.

DH has now said he hates Bennett, but would consider Benedict.

Whoops! Name change fail - that was me^^ (op).

Ooh, Benedict's nice.

pipilangstrumpf · 12/12/2017 13:53

Be careful with Benedict, I've heard it as Bendy Dick and can't get that out of my head...
