We have an Alexandra, known as Alex or Al (she's a tomboy!) and so glad to see it's seen as classic! We adore the name, and it suits DD completely.

Alexandra is a million times better than Elizabeth or Eleanor - Helena's ok though.

I Love it and its classic but the only small issue is all the ones I know are known as Alex which is a tad boring. I prefer the short forms of Elizabeth- Beth, Libby are probably my faves.

Queen Alexandra of Russia is always spelt Alix when referred to by her nickname. Very different vibe to Alex IMO! Could that be another option? I also know an Alexander nn Ander, so Andra is possible too.
