Thoughts on these boy names please

• Rupert
• Guy
• Gregor - we aren’t Scottish. Would it be weird to use anyway?
• Jesse - Dh isn’t sold on this as he says it’s a girl name? I think of it as a boy name.
• Cyrus - I think there’s a serial killer in a soap of this name and also an evil monk in the Dan Brown books? It doesn’t massively bother me, as I don’t watch soaps or read Dan Brown novels, but happy to hear other opinions.
• Bennett - not my usual taste tbh, but I love this!
• Jacob - I’m not in love with Jake though... I would probably shorten to Jay or not at all. Obviously I know he might get Jake anyway. I can live with it.
• Matthew - probably my least favourite, but I can’t quite bring myself to take it off the list...

My favourites are Guy and Matthew. Matt could be any age - it doesn't date.

Gregor and Jacob are fine too.

Not sure about Bennett.
The others get a no.

I'm not particularly keen on Rupert - I associate with the Bear and also slightly 'wet' names likes Jeremy and Julian.

Like Guy, not very keen on Gregor but like it better than Gregory.

I like Jesse for a boy but am typing this whilst humming Cher's Jesse James to myself.

Cyrus, not a name I have ever considered but I think I like it. Same for Bennett - it's a change from Benjamin. Yes, the more I think about them the more I like these two.

Agree with OP completely about Jacob. Matthew is nice but to me is more a middle name than a first name

Guy- nice for a man but can't imagine a baby or little boy with this name.
Gregor- don't like it. Are you a viking?
Jesse- love this. Really cool- definitely not a girls' name spelt like this.
Cyrus- awful- Miley.
Bennett- awful- it's a surname.
Jacob- very popular, boring.
Matthew- also boring.

Gregor, Rupert , Mathew are great too. Strong, underused names imo :)

Jesse - soooorry, but really loathe this name, just because of its connotations with being an insult (not just in Scotland either). Its also Really popular if tht bothers u ?

Cyrus- just think this name is totally different style to ur other choices (and I personally like ur others a lot more )!

Jacob, I know about 10 little jacobs, my a bad name imo (!) but he may end up being Jacob M (or whatever your surname initial is) at school :)

I only don't like Gregor because of Connor McGregor, I think.

Rupert - don't like, makes me think of Rupert the bear
Guy - Quite like it
Gregor - don't particularly like it but don't mind Greg
Jesse - basically a way of calling a boy a 'big girls blouse' it's an insult in a lot of the UK
Cyrus - Persian name, I like it but my dh is half Persian. I would think it's strange if you have no connection
Bennett - hate it, 'Gordon bennett'
Jacob - it's quite nice but will be shortened by some people to Jake
Matthew - this is my favourite, wanted to use it for ds1 but dh vetoed.
