Georgina/Georgiana...any other similar names?

Hi
Looking for a girls name to go with sibling Eleanor plus another sister (don't want to give her name or might 'out' myself) but name is similar - relatively traditional.
Favourites are Georgina or Georgiana
Others include Marianna or Estella - but latter is probably too close to Eleanor/Ella
Any other similar names?

Some great alternatives being suggested here too. Quite like the ana endings, my second daughter's name ends with 'a' but I think we have avoided being frilly as described. I like strong names I think - hadn't really considered the 'frilly' aspect. Thanks for all the suggestions so far x I'm finding this so difficult because we have used up two favourites already.

Christina, Juliet, Rebecca, Emma, Mary

No it's not. This has been covered on here before. It was pronounced that way by a particular fashionable set of people in the period in which the film 'The Duchess' was set. They pronounced it that way to show their membership of the group.

Normal pronunciation is 'jorg-ee-ahna' as you expect by looking at the spelling.

Pemba · 30/11/2017 19:45

That's to Daisy.

DumbledoresApprentice · 30/11/2017 19:46

I would pronounce Georgiana like daisy said, with 3 syllables.

crunched · 30/11/2017 19:46

The only Georgiana I know ( & parents pronounce it with four syllables, sorry Daisypond) has a sister called Gabriella, known as Gigi, quite sweet.
What about Persephone?

BillywigSting · 30/11/2017 19:46

I quite like Francesca with Eleanor (shortened to Frankie, but only because that was my nana's and her sisters names so they just naturally go together in my head)

Otherwise:

Rosaline/ Roisín
Jessica
Ada
Prudence
Henriette

MerryMarigold · 30/11/2017 19:52

Love Francesca! May be too many 'uh' endings though with Eleanor and another child with an 'a' ending, assuming 'uh'.

Claudette?

I went to school with a Georgie. I'm not a fan of Georgiana.

Recently heard Elianna and thought it’s was beautiful!

Georgia is nice as is Georgie.

twinkletoes1994 · 30/11/2017 20:36

My real name is Georgina, most people call me Georgie. Aside from the kids in the playground that used to sing Georgie Porgie, I think it's a nice name to have Grin

Tunnocksmallow · 30/11/2017 20:42

I wanted to call DD1 Georgiana, as I’m a huge P&P fan; her father (dickhead) put his foot down and said no, she’s a Georgia now.

MegAndSprog · 30/11/2017 20:44

How about Genevieve?

Pemba · 30/11/2017 20:46

Shame, Tunnock. But Georgia is nice too.

Talking of P&P, if you watch the BBC adaptation, you can hear they pronounce Georgiana the normal way (jorj-ee-ahna).

Minty82 · 30/11/2017 20:47

I know a Georgina and Eleanor sibling combo - their other sister is Alexandra, which is a similar vibe. Or is that your other DD's name?! It fits your hints...

I like Eliana but a bit too close to Eleanor. I also like Alexandra but we named our late son Alexander so I'm not sure how I feel about this.

DH said no to Genevieve. Perhaps he should come up with some alternatives although he did choose Eleanor for our eldest DD

I love the name Georgie

I didn't want Georgina to be shortened to Gina, so she is 'just' Georgie.

User45632874 · 30/11/2017 21:13

Yes Sally, either way - Georgina or Georgiana is likely to be shortened to Georgie which I quite like.
