Just came across this blog and the names are amazing!! Especially like Anselo, Starlina, Greenleaf, Marbeleni, Northalion.

Also like the Victorian gothic names - Arphaxad, Clarimond, Vesperina.

Any stand out for you?

One of my great great grandmothers was a Romany gipsy called Hephzibar.

I knew a girl at school called Richenda. I always thought it was a made up name but apparently not!

Some really beautiful sounding names!
AndNone- you can tell you haven't read the Chalet School books if you've never come across Richenda!

AndNone - so did I - in the South East in the 80s?!

Hmm, Eusebius and Anchoretta - and my family thought I was wacky for wanting Xavier!

Lovell is amazing. My favourite teacher at primary was called Richenda McNaughton

DS is at school with a long lost rarity! He is from Japan so maybe it's a coincidence.

My youngest's name is a variation of a Victoria gothic name. I wish I had named him that name but it ends in s and his middle name and surname start with s so I thought it would be a bit hissy! He's known by a shortened version anyway so it wouldn't have mattered. Name regret!

I've obviously got a bit of a taste for Victorian gothic as I love loads of the names on the list.

GU24 no, Midlands in the 90s.

I have never read the Chalet School books.
