What do people think of the name Jemima ??

I like it but it did instantly make me think of Chitty Chitty Bang Bang

It makes me think of Beatrix Potter's Jemima Puddleduck.

I know a little Jemima (but she spells it Jemimah), she is known as Mimi.

I thinks it’s quite a nice name.

Love Jemima & would use Jem as a nickname.
I also really like Jemma & Jenna too.

I really liked it during my first trimester and considered it seriously if the baby was a girl, which she is, but I suffered from really bad morning sickness til 18 weeks and now hearing the name just makes me feel so queasy . Such a shame as it’s a beautiful name. I like it with and without an H at the end.

Puddle Duck is my first thought upon hearing the name.

The name also has strongly negative connotations re racism in North America. In our increasingly small world, that would put me off.

Thanks guys I am 30 weeks and have loved the name pretty much all my pregnancy.. ive already got a daughter named Jazzmin and i though Jemima/h sounds lovely with her name. I cant decide with or without a H though yet. I don't mind that it's the little girl in chitty bang bang, as it is an older traditional name. I'm not a harry potter fan so that's no problem. I've just thought would she get ridiculed at school cause it rhymes with Vagina ? 😂 or am I being silly???

And just realised it's a book potter puddle duck.. I don't know about that book so that doesn't put me off, I thought you ment harry potter 🙈😂

Jemima puddleduck isn't from harry potter its a story book written by beautrix potter from the peter rabbit collection, I have never thought about it rhyming with vagina so I wouldn't know

Lovely name and sounds beautiful with jazzmin. But...since you went for an unusual spelling for your 1st DD I wonder if Jemima looks a bit odd alongside it. Does Jemyma work for you? I’m not a big one for adapting traditional spellings but it’s a personal thing and I wonder if this might suit your family better. I’m imagining it written in Christmas cards. Jazzmin & Jemyma. I’ll happily be godmum if you go for it

How about a simple middle name. I think one syllable names like Pearl or Jade or Fleur or Belle would all work. Jemyma Jade sounds lovely to me.

I like jade too but that's my middle name haha
