Olivia or Olympia?

Hello, hello, hello! My first thread and one about names, specifically the name, Olympia. My older children are Joseph Brooks, Annabeth Poppy, Dominic Jackson and Rosemary August. All my kids have at least one name that means lots to me, for example Joseph was my dad's middle name, Elizabeth is my MIL's name, Jack is my FIL's name and Rosemary is my mother's name although she always has gone by Molly. So, that gives you a little idea as to the type of names and little hints of family I like to use.

Olympia is a name I like because it is strong, unique and breaks up the fairly commonplace but utterly delicious Charlotte, which will be our daughter's first name. But, Charlotte's first name is quite clearly a hint to her great granddad's name Charlie which has been a lovely realisation and I would like to honor my own granddad as well as DH's. His name is Oliver but he has always been known as Oli so I was hoping I could get away with Olympia being a little reference to him but I don't always want to be explaining the connection and I don't want to leave him out.

Therefore, Charlotte Olivia or Charlotte Olympia?

Going with your other names it's a Charlotte Olympia from me.

SkeletalFishtail · 19/11/2017 15:37

Fantastic names op! It’s another vote for Olympia from me. Oh how I wish I was named Charlotte Olympia!!!

DullAndOld · 19/11/2017 15:39

I love Olympia but cant get the exhibition centre/tube stop out of my mind.
If you like Greek names what about Artemis or Antigone?..:)

ChocolateCrunch · 19/11/2017 15:58

Definitely Charlotte Olympia! Lovely name

Yika · 19/11/2017 16:01

I love Olympia but if you want to honour your GF I think Olivia would be the one Togo for.

WhatKatyDidNotDo · 19/11/2017 16:08

Absolutely love Olympia

AppleKatie · 19/11/2017 16:12

Olivia

ThroughThickAndThin01 · 19/11/2017 16:12

Olympia, without doubt.

ThroughThickAndThin01 · 19/11/2017 16:14

Where is Elizabeth in your children's names?

ThroughThickAndThin01 · 19/11/2017 16:15

Oh the Beth bit. I read it as Annabelle.

TheVanguardSix · 19/11/2017 16:20

Olivia.

If you wish to honour family, Olivia.

meanapparently · 19/11/2017 16:22

Isn't Charlotte Olympia a shoe designer? She does these amazing cat shoes that if I ever had £500 to drop on shoes I would..

TheVanguardSix · 19/11/2017 16:23

I read your other threads... you're on a bit of a naming frenzy between puppy and baby! You're getting a dog... today is it?
Hope your baby's not due for a while. Grin

VioletCharlotte · 19/11/2017 16:25

Charlotte Olivia is lovely.

Charlotte Olympia.. not so much.

pilates · 19/11/2017 16:34

Charlotte Olivia, not keen on Olympia

lunabear1 · 19/11/2017 16:37

Charlotte Olympia is beautiful but it's all a shoe designer

DahlTheGalah · 19/11/2017 16:40

Great names all around! In Italy, it's usually spelt Olimpia; maybe that version could make the link to your Granddad stronger.

evieboo · 19/11/2017 17:14

Oh ffs i wasnt aware of the shoe designee at all! And yes we are getting a puppy but in 2 weeks so not quite yet was wondering whether someone would make that connection Grin but yes I'm in the mood to settle names. I did know about the Olimpia spelling and I think i might consider it tbh.

Thank you lovelies.

Olympia was Alexander the Great's terrifying mother as I recall. Utterly ruthless & quite evil politician.

I like it, it's cool Grin.

RavenWings · 19/11/2017 17:23

Olivia is fine. Bit over used, but fine.

Olympia is godawful.

GinwithCucumber · 19/11/2017 17:27

I like Olympia!

If she feels she is not an Olympia then Ollie is an easy nn

daisypond · 19/11/2017 17:47

How about Olive? Much less common than Olivia. But I like Olympia as well.

evieboo · 19/11/2017 22:59

Ooh @PurpleCrowbar i like that association!

Olive would be a nice option.
