Brother for Harriet

We are struggling for a shortlist for Harriet's brother.

We like more traditional names. Our favourite was Thomas but that's out due to family members new baby!

Middle name will be James.

Suggestions most welcome!

I know someone who called her children Paul & Paula...both after Paul McCartney! Compared to that Harry & Harriet sound perfectly normal.

Why not have a name no-one else will be using
Barry
Jason
Roger
Darren
Humphrey
Norman

What do you mean there's a good reason why these aren't popular? Wait till your children have kids...

Michael. I think it’s due a revival and hits on your traditional theme. Or:

Lucas
Luke
Peter
Samson
David
Paul
George
Charles

If you go for Henry you could end up with two Harries (is that the plural of Harry? Maybe two Harrys!)
Mungo
Milo
Thomas (Tom)
A less popular but traditional name: Andrew, David, Jonathan etc

purpleweasel · 09/11/2017 12:40

By the way, how close is the family member called Thomas? Unless they are really close it shouldn't necessarily put you off. My brother in law & his cousin had same name & at one time were in same (village) school though not in same year! Mattered much less as they grew up as they saw much less of each other

Toby
Robert
Jacob
Dominic
Nathan
Rory
Reece
Ethan

Sorry op as much as love the name Henry (and I really do) you can't use it with Harriet, and definitely not Harry/Harrison! 😂

Hugo? Or maybe...
James
Arthur
Gregory
Alistair
Emerson
Emmett
Willfred
Rupert

Ginnotginger · 09/11/2017 13:09

Frederick James - Harriet/Harry and Freddie
Alexander James - Harriet/Harry and Alex/Xan
Dominic James - Harriet/Harry and Dom/Nick
Nicholas James - Harriet/ Harry and Nick
Adam James - Harriet/Harry and Adam
Isaac James - Harriet/Harry and Isaac/Zac

My daughter would have been Nicholas James and I still like it 25 years on.

So much love for Alexander James (I'm biased. I have one)
Out of everyone elses suggestions I think Theodore is 2nd best to Alexander James.

PandorasXbox · 09/11/2017 13:31

George.

heavenforbid · 09/11/2017 16:20

I love Rory. Harriet and Rory sounds nice. Could he even be Rory Thomas?

Lem0nsparkles · 09/11/2017 17:12

Thank you ladies, Harry would never have been an option, and we wouldn't shorted Henry either. Harriet gets called Hattie for short!

Harriet loves the name Finley for her brother!

Rory or William

Lem0nsparkles · 15/11/2017 11:36

I think we are heading towards:
William James
Or
Finley James

Thoughts?

William James is nice & solid, with scope for good shortenings if you like

pipilangstrumpf · 15/11/2017 13:52

Of those two Finley because Fin is a nicer nickname than Will/Willy imo.

Sugarpiehoneyeye · 15/11/2017 14:34

Rory James or William James.

Intercom · 15/11/2017 15:24

William

WhatKatyDidNotDo · 15/11/2017 16:53

Theodore
Oscar
Matthew

littlebillie · 15/11/2017 22:06

Dorian I

icantgetnosleep5 · 16/11/2017 19:37

I Love Henry and Harriet! Also really love Charles :)

mondler · 18/11/2017 12:49

My dream twins would be Matthew and Harriet! But it's from a tv show and I just think they work so well together! I think both William and Finley would work well with both sibling and middle name. I agree about avoiding Henry just because the only knickname I know for it is Harry (pretty sure prince Harry is officially a Henry).

daisypond · 18/11/2017 12:58

William is better than Finley.

Bennygoak · 19/11/2017 12:35

I know two Harriets and their siblings are:

Harriet, James and William

Harriet, Georgina and Charles (Charlie)

GinnyBaker · 19/11/2017 12:56

William better if you don't mind will as n name.

What about theodore (teddy) james or thaddeus (thaddy) james ?

MelinaM · 19/11/2017 13:37

I was going to suggest Henry James🤗
