Girls name to 'go' with Lucy

EekThreek · 03/11/2017 07:15

Don't know what DC3 is yet, but if it's a girl we like the middle name Liusaidh (Lucy).

I'm just not sure what first names would flow with it! Plus, we're struggling to find girls names we both like in the first place.

So far the only two we vaguely agree on are Nina and Heidi.

I'm not sure Heidi Liusaidh sounds right, but I also don't want to pin everything on Nina in case it doesn't suit her.

What else could we consider?

I love the name Nina, I think that is perfect.

Also:
Tessa
Anna

EekThreek · 03/11/2017 07:36

Anna is pretty - it's one of DD's best friends 😊

I really like Anya too - I've tried it every time, and DH always says no because it's one of his cousins. ☹️

How is Liousaidh pronounced.

EekThreek · 03/11/2017 07:47

Lucy, its in the OP Smile

I love Heidi but think it sounds a bit twee with Lucy as a middle name - too many ‘ee’ endings. What about
Julia
Ava
Beatrice
Violet

EekThreek · 03/11/2017 07:57

LOVE Violet, but DH doesn't ☹️ And close friends have a Violet so that rules it out.

Beatrice wouldn't run into out surname very well (first letter S).

I agree we need to avoid -ee endings with that middle name though.

Erin?

Or Erica? That's one we both liked last time, but ended with DS!

It's not creative, it's a Gaelic name meaning Warrior. Lucy doesn't mean the same thing, else I'd choose that spelling.

I'm due on BIL's birthday, a year after he passed. His name doesn't have a female equivalent, so we've looked for names that mean the same thing as his name to honour him.

I do like Erin, and Emma. Evelyn is pretty, but a bit hit and miss with pronunciation, which with our unusual surname and this middle name would just add a layer of complexity we could avoid.

Or Niamh

EekThreek · 03/11/2017 09:11

Omg, DH loves Erin. That's the first time he's ever 'loved' a name in advance, and it's only taken to our third child to get there! 😂

The other name we like that means warrior is Marcella, but it's not as strong a link.

So if it's a girl it will be either

Erin Liusaidh S...
Nina Liusaidh S...
Heidi Marcella S...

Just boys to agree on now 😩

I love the meaning behind Liusaidh - and it goes beautifully with Erin

Chaffinch4 · 03/11/2017 09:27

Erica is lovely!

stevensupersquirrel · 03/11/2017 09:58

Meredith (great lord).... keeps the theme (and it's a wonderful name)

EekThreek · 03/11/2017 10:20

Meredith is beautiful, and not my normal style.

I love that it could be shortened to Merry, which would balance the gloom behind her namesake and birth month (BIL died just before his birthday last year).

Lovely idea @stevensupersquirrel, thank you.

I think Erin is perfect. Nina is nice too and, although I agree Heidi doesn't 'go' with Lucy I'm not sure that really matters because nobody ever really says the two names together in a flowy kind of way. If her full names needs to be announced (for ceremonies and stuff) you would just put a small pause between Heidi and Lucy - Heidi, Lucy, Smith rather than Heidilucy Smith iyswim. So, I don't think you need to use Marcella regardless of the first name.

I’ve got a Sarah Lucy Smile

Highpeak · 03/11/2017 18:03

Erin sounds lovely and fits the gaelic theme. Heidi sounds harsh to me. Nina is OK but not as nice as Erin

EekThreek · 07/02/2018 06:10

Erin Liusaidh was born last week, and her name suits her perfectly 😍
Thanks for all your input!
