It's a very old sounding granny name.

In fact I knew a 75 year old who was ashamed it was her middle name.

I love it! Sounds like May-bell which is a beautiful idea. If I were young enough to have a baby it would be on my short list for sure!

It's awesome (am biased). It's cool and beautiful and understated. But your husband definitely needs to love it! I had my first five favourite names vetoed - it has to work for you both.

what is this 'granny chic' that seems to be in vogue?
as a Grandma I feel it is time my name was 'chic' - still waiting Smile
Personally I can remember when the 'granny chic' names were the names of my 'granny' so I must admit I feel they are very old-fashioned. But if you like Mabel - go for it.

I have a family ancestor with that name and I love it.
Everyone else hated it
I ended up with Megan which I love but Mabel is good for me
