Final 3 - which name do you prefer?

First of all, I'm not interested in any other suggestions. I'd just like to know which of these 3 names you prefer:
Adeline
Cecily
Miranda

Surname is 2 syllables and starts with a T. Middle name will be either Jane or Mary.

They are all lovely names, but my vote goes to Cecily Jane.

EllaHen · 25/10/2017 17:33

I think I like Cecily. Especially with your T surname and middle name Jane.

Finola1step · 25/10/2017 17:34

Another vote for Cecily Jane. Congratulations Flowers

BendydickCuminsnatch · 25/10/2017 17:34

Cecily Jane Turner/Tucker etc sounds just lovely. I love Adeline but would hesitate due to een/ine pronunciation. Miranda is lovely too but I choose Cecily.

MoonHare · 25/10/2017 17:39

Miranda then Cecily not Adeline - again due to the potential for pn confusion.

HainaultViaNewburyPark · 25/10/2017 17:44

We'd pronounce the ending of Adeline as 'een' - it hadn't even occurred to me that there might be a different pronunciation Blush

Cecily Mary sounds good to me.

BenLui · 25/10/2017 17:47

Cecily Jane here too.

MoonHare · 25/10/2017 17:48

I think people who don't know her on seeing it written down will often decide it's pn Adel-ine- rhymes with line, rather than the een you prefer.

Loyly · 25/10/2017 17:50

Cecily

FresasAndFrambuesas · 25/10/2017 17:52

I would definitely pronounce adeline with an 'ine' sound, not an 'een' sound if i read it.

I like both your others but prefer Jane as the middle name with both Miranda and Cecily

FresasAndFrambuesas · 25/10/2017 17:53

Oh, also I know you said no other names but it's more of a variant, I think Cecily Maria works well too

Annabelle4 · 25/10/2017 17:56

Cecily Jane is absolutely beautiful.

KellyMarieTunstall2 · 25/10/2017 18:06

Cecily. Its lovely and on my list too.

Pemba · 25/10/2017 18:08

Miranda

Dunzo · 25/10/2017 18:10

Cecily Jane is great.

I love a similar name - Cecilia and had it on our girls list (nickname CeCe which I thought would be cute when she was little)

I agree with Adeline having a few pronunciations.

MollyHuaCha · 25/10/2017 18:14

Cecily

Argeles · 25/10/2017 18:16

Adeline definitely - it’s very beautiful.

Adeline Mary surname

ChocolateCrunch · 25/10/2017 18:19

Miranda

SweetChickadee · 25/10/2017 18:20

Cecily - so pretty

MadisonAvenue · 25/10/2017 18:24

Adeline, with the -ine pronunciation, is beautiful.

ZuzuMylittleGingersnap · 25/10/2017 18:36

Cecily Jane - lovely!

(Nicest in its Cecily entirety, IMO, but "CeCe", with the "See-See" pronunciation, does work really well for a shortening).

BewareOfTheToddler · 25/10/2017 18:40

Adeline Mary! Or Cecily Jane. But all are lovely names.

Mishappening · 25/10/2017 18:41

Miranda

Thanks for taking the time to comment. I'm going to show DH this thread when he gets home (he's worried that Cecily would be perceived as a wishy-washy name).

I always thought names ending 'ine' were pronounced 'een' in English (e.g. Francine, Pauline, Celine). It's interesting to hear that this isn't necessarily the case. Definitely food for thought.
