Do you think people would get used to the pronounciation? Penelope is accepted and most people seem to have the hang of Hermione.

Absolutely love it. Unusual, classic, mystical, melodic and strong.

HateHomework · 17/10/2017 17:32

Sorry no! It's nasty Greek name that everyone hates (in Greece!). If they love it where you are good luck to you

ThaliaLuxurySpa · 17/10/2017 17:35

Why do Greeks hate it so much? I don't understand: it's surely all positive associations!

DiegoMadonna · 17/10/2017 17:39

If it’s pronounced Cal-eye-oh-pee it sounds like you’re saying the alphabet

I think you may need to go back and study the alphabet.

FWIW I did also think of "can I go pee" when I read the pronunciation.

ohmyblob · 17/10/2017 17:42

Reminds me of Blinded By The Light

ThaliaLuxurySpa · 17/10/2017 17:48

^ Please explain, HateHomework...I'm curious.

heavenlypink · 17/10/2017 17:52

Interesting name - I associate it with a navy ship who (as a pp said) took it from Greek mythology.

HateHomework · 17/10/2017 17:59

Whoever is baptised as Calliope in Greece, they change the name to Popi soon after

There is no adult with this name except for nuns!

Jooni · 17/10/2017 18:52

I really like it!

SuperBeagle · 17/10/2017 22:53

I think it's horrible. I don't like the sound of Hermione either though.

And unless people have seen Grey's, I'd assume many people will pronounce it cally-ope or cally-oh-pee.

OvariesForgotHerPassword · 17/10/2017 22:56

I think it's lovely.

DD is Callie but not short for Calliope. We get lots of "that's unusual but lovely" comments :)

Santawontbelong · 17/10/2017 22:58

Sorry looks like a variety of melon. .

verystressedmum · 17/10/2017 23:22

DiegoMadonna yes thanks I’ll study the alphabet Hmm
I think you know I meant it sounds like letters of the alphabet

NearLifeExperience · 18/10/2017 00:53

Urgh! Very ugly name!

Blueberrysandgrapes76 · 18/10/2017 03:14

No don’t do it!

Mummsye · 18/10/2017 06:56

Name choice is beautiful, I remembered one of the characters in Grey's Anatomy. Maybe she will be a doctor someday. :D
