Need help adapting my dad's name

When I was pregnant with our first baby we were planning on having my Dad's name as the middle name if a boy, or his Mum's name (my man) if a girl. Then we changed our minds about the first name for a boy and it no longer fitted. Now I'm pregnant with our second and last night my DH said he thought my Dad would be really disappointed about missing out on the baby's name if it's a girl. He suggested we put the two names together, which would make June-Bob.
Hmm
(Can one o' y'all pass the fried chick'n an' grits?) [shudders]
I've no objection to trying to get my Dad's name into the middle somewhere, just need to make it sound more feminine. Bobby/Bobbi or Bobette aren't options.
Has anyone heard of any feminised versions of 'bob'? English or otherwise?

If he is actually a Robert thorn Robyn June or Roberta June.

Otherwise its pass the grits Bobbi-June Although initials... Firstname BJ Surname

TorNayDoh · 17/10/2017 17:22

Kate, short for Bob.

llangennith · 17/10/2017 17:39

Roberta

mamabeak · 17/10/2017 19:39

How about Granda's mum's name for a middle name if a girl?

Otherwise- Robina/Ruby/Berta if not Roberta or Robin.

I love that he suggested June-Bob as a suitable name for your daughter Grin Grin Grin

Montacute I almost choked on my cup of tea! He said it so seriously.

Thank you all for your suggestions.

My Dad's name is actually Robert but he LOATHES it. His middle name is Francis - which he also hates (and, quite frankly, so do I). He's very vehemently just 'Bob' so that's why it has to be a variance of 'Bob', if we can find one.

His mum is Francis June, but she hates her first name so much that she goes by her middle name - although she still decided to pass it onto her son! Hmm

2014newme That's sort of why I was asking for suggestions to see if it can be done nicely Wink

Ilovechocolate111 Ding ding - I think we have a winner! Bobbin would fit quite nicely with my mum's obsession with sewing too, come to think of it, but it would have to be June Bobbin - 'Bobbin June' sounds too much like a nickname for the village bike Grin Grin

BUT, after all this - this morning I told my DH that I preferred June Bobbin as middle names and he point blank refused. I pointed out that he'd suggested June-Bob. He stared at me for a long moment.

"I can't believe you thought I was serious," he said.

Cue much spluttering and outrage from me. He said it was a stupid name for a middle name (Bobbin, not June) and I pointed out all of the reasons HE gave ME when we had the 'June-Bob' discussion - nobody ever introduces themselves with their middle name, it will only be on official documents etc etc.

Then I smiled sweetly. "Well, that's just tough because it's happening."

"No it isn't." He sniffed. "We're having a boy anyway."

He's such an arse. Grin Grin

Go all black adder and call her kate as in "bob short for Kate "

daisypond · 22/10/2017 13:50

June Frances? I think Frances is gorgeous - that's the normal spelling for a girl. (Francis for a boy.) That would relate to both your dad and your nan. Or how about Francesca or Francine?

Santawontbelong · 22/10/2017 13:56

What about Bo?

PuppyMonkey · 22/10/2017 14:00

It also makes me think of Bob from Blackadder.

Sorry but if you insist on calling yourself a rubbish name like Bob, you should t be offended if your kids don't want to name their offspring after you. Imho Grin

BobshortforRobyn1 · 22/10/2017 23:39

My daughter is always called Bob, short for Robyn....which we only call her when she's naughty!

TorNayDoh · 23/10/2017 09:37

You could have fun with Bob for a girl...

Bobblina
Bobbette
Bobbica
Boblinka
Bobbigail
Bobbecca
Bobangeline
Bobbinetta
Bobina

Or you could give her three names like Belinda Olivia Beth and the initials spell BOB?

Justgivemesomepeace · 23/10/2017 09:47

I'm sorry OP but I can't stop laughing at some of these. Bobblina and kate, short for bob have really tickled me. Can you think of a nice anagram maybe? Trebor? I think Robyn is the nicest.

Justgivemesomepeace · 23/10/2017 09:47

I've got it- Bobinski!

MrsSchadenfreude · 23/10/2017 09:50

Bobbles! Grin

Awwlookatmybabyspider · 23/10/2017 09:58

Roberta-June known as Bobbi-June.

ineedaholidaynow · 23/10/2017 09:58

If neither your Dad or Nan like their names why would they be upset if you don't use their names when naming your child?

Lavabravacava · 23/10/2017 10:02

Rabbie for a girl might be cute?

Leilaniii · 23/10/2017 10:03

Oh, I love Bobby-June! It has a real vintage vibe. It's a fabulous name!

Leilaniii · 23/10/2017 10:04

Bobbi-June as someone else suggested, is even more fabulous.
